mapping - field checking 2:30:00 [1] ***
shoes: Icebugs

Brief overall check of French Park. Updating trails and steps to ISSOM. A few minor changes to vegetation, but I really tried to restrain myself from making any changes to Vladimir Zherdev's mapping unless the vegetation showed major changes. About 4-6 inches of snow, trails were well-travelled. Saw many urban deer.

weights / strength (snow removal) 45:00 [3]

Cleared my dad's driveway & walks.

"Coldest Night" midnight hike; Miami Univ & Natural Areas. Temp about -1 F.

trail running 27:11 [3] 2.7 mi (10:04 / mi)
weight:159lbs shoes: Icebugs

Miami Univ Natural Areas - Bachelor Preserve. Just before noon, as the first flakes of "The White Death" (apologies to 700 WLW) began to fall. While 99% of the population of Southwest Ohio trembles in terror, we hardy orienteers let out a big "Whooppeee!" and head off to enjoy the great outdoors!

walking (snow removal) 30:00 [1]

Spent 45-55 minutes clearing the first inch or two of the "white death" off my driveway. More to come: The wise prognosticators now are predicting about 7 inches. As the Swampfox would say, YOWSA!

weights / strength (snow removal) 45:00 [3]

Moved the next 2-4 inches of the "white death" off the driveway. Its still coming down at an inch an hour or so.

weights / strength (snow removal) 1:00:00 [3]

Looks like the storm has just about blown itself out. Spent about 1:45 clearing the remaining 2 inches or so of snow, then starting to clear the whole 6 or 7 inch snowfall from less essential areas.

hashing 13:00 [3] 1.2 mi (10:50 / mi)
shoes: O T Blaze III

An abortive attempt at SCH4 run #253, starting from Voice of America Park on the frozen, wind-swept plains of Westchester, Ohio. Single digit temperatures and double digit winds greeted a pack that split in half at the first check. After running with one group for a good half mile, I finally had the audacity to ask if anyone had seen any marks. Nope. After backtracking up the other side of the road & around several stores and warehouse-type buildings, still without seeing any more marks or other hashers, I decided it was better to save my rapidly solidifying face and fingers for other endeavors.

walking 44:03 [1] 2.0 mi (22:01 / mi)
shoes: O T Blaze III

A dusk and early darkness hike on part of the Adena Trace.

bicycling - stationary 14:34 [4]

I got on the bike with about 5 minutes left in the first half of THE game (SB XLI), and decided to pump hard for the remainder of the half. Now everybody knows that 5 minutes in American football does not really mean 5 minutes, and it turned out to be a good workout of almost 3 times that duration!

bicycling - stationary 56:21 [3]

Afer a light dinner during halftime, I spent a good portion of the second half of the game on the bike.
