Orienteering race 50:07 [5] ***** 6.7 km (7:29 / km)
spiked:12/13c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

Day 2 of Autumn Classic, hoped to make up 4 mins on Bill M, but his 15yo legs were just way too fast, event with a major error. Foot was sore from yesterday's minor sprain, and didn't feel able to find any speed at all, especially in areas of fallen timber and rocky ground. However, I did orienteer well, with the only real time loss being 20 secs standing above no. 10, which was mapped as a long curved cliff, but was in reality one small cliff and a separate bit of rocky ground. From 10 to the finish was basically 3 paddock runs and the foot was reasonably warm by this time, so I virtually sprinted (well, a sprint for me anyway) the last 1200m. GPS 7.3km, Bill's was 7.9 and he beat me by 6 mins!

Orienteering race 32:47 [4] **** 4.5 km (7:17 / km)
spiked:7/9c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

Kenine Hill, Day 1 of Autumn Classic, GPS 5.2km. 1-3 was good, but control 4 was misplaced by about 100m. Ran straight into where it should have been, then eventually figured it must be the one everyone else was running to - which I had seen, but thought was another course (3-4 mins). Sprained my left ankle slightly on a rock while stuffing around looking for it. From 5-6 I somehow went very wide on a short leg, probably cost at least another minute and a half. After that I ran reasonably fast and caught 500m on Joe D, who I could see crossing the ridge 600m away across the paddock coming out of 6.

Running 42:31 [3] 7.5 km (5:40 / km)
shoes: ASICS GT2130 (new)

Just around the bridges tonight, as sinuses were still dodgy. Had to detour to Canning Hwy again - passage under the Causeway still flooded, although down to about 3m across. Too far for me to jump.

Kings Park, ran the shorter route very slowly - would love to do this time for the usual 8km course.
