9 AM

Running race 18:12 [5] 3.1 mi (5:52 / mi) +75m 5:28 / mi

Gedling parkrun - 1st, 18.12

I'd been warned this was hilly, and it didn't disappoint.
It was also Balticly cold, mainly thanks to windchill
I was neck and neck with the other chap until the final steep hill when I got away, which was interesting/nice. Surprised to be so far ahead at the end

Running warm up/down 8:21 [3] 1.0 mi (8:21 / mi) +15m 7:59 / mi

2 PM

Running 10:00 [3] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)

Running race 42:40 [5] 6.6 mi (6:28 / mi) +225m 5:51 / mi

SE Lancs XC League, Tandle Hill - 6th

A what the hell am I doing here type venture which turned out to be highly successful/enjoyable

Have never raced in worse conditions, but loved the course, a bit of everything but thankfully not too much bog.

Worked my way through the field to 6th, thought I had a chance of 4th with a mile to go but ran out of gas and road. Funny how things work out sometimes

Urban Orienteering race 59:50 [4] 8.2 mi (7:18 / mi) +220m 6:44 / mi

Ilkley Street O - 3rd

Thought I was well on track to get them all, then after 50 mins realised I hadn't got #36. Couldn't even find it on the map. Eventually spotted it on the moor, which considering I had just crossed the river was faintly hilarious I guess. Apparently I wasn't the only one.

My route was hindered by turning left once over the bridge at the start which left me crossing the river 4 times instead of 2. On such early decisions things can be won and lost in a score event

Romiley Night O- 5th?

Headtorch ran out at Wetherby so got some batteries on the way

Except had forgotten new headtorch is USB charge

Despite trying to scrounge/buy/loan a USB cable beforehand, no joy, so set out without a headtorch

Straight after control one into some unlit woods. Lots of slow faffing, had to escape to nearby road. First 12 mins were a waste of time

Recovered fairly well, and harshly lost 70 points for writing a 0 down as a 6

Urban Orienteering race 46:45 [5] 6.6 mi (7:05 / mi) +40m 6:57 / mi

Oakwood Urban - 2nd

Set off easy, and safe, though really on this area it would have to have been an absolute disaster, or a technical failure, to mis punch, though having seen one on the results screen beforehand had me worried.
Settled down and the pace got quicker, and from just before halfway I knew leading time was 45:30 so sped up for about 15 mins, but became clear I was way off, and almost lost track of where I was, so decided to calm down...!

Running warm up/down 10:20 [3] 1.4 mi (7:23 / mi)
