Orienteering race 1:32:07 [5] ****
shoes: inov-8 oroc 280

DVO event at matlock moor. Lots of technical legs and compass coming into play a lot more than it had recently. one incredibly long and boring leg, which ended with some very nice technical stuff. very very muddy.

too far east for 1, reached catching path and tracked west found control easily after that. dropped on 2 nicely. loads of running around in circles for 4 including finding 5 on the way. 4 was easy and 5 was too the 2nd time round. long hacks across the field for 6 and 7 - missed 8. long trek to 9, but cut in correctly and found control quite well. down the path to 10 approaching it from the NW and cut in correctly. 11 was a nightmare, can't really do this sort of control. long run to 12, passed the missed 8 (argh, damn) 13,14,15 hard, but very much fun. across the field to 16, which could have been harder, but visible from the open area. too tired to run to 17, but easy to find, then gentle slow jog to finish. lost the will to run fast after discovering missed control. I liked all the legs apart from 11-12, which was tediously long, especially liked 12-15 and all the climbing in the SE woods.
