Running 34:03 [3] 5.8 km (5:52 / km) +85m 5:28 / km
(injured)

Ran home from work.

The head of my right fibula was bothering me a lot all day today. (It was sore at West Point, I think from the amount of sideways running on the hills) But it's been getting a lot worse throughout the week.
I've been icing and stretching it... but the only thing that takes the ache away is when I put salonpas on it at night, but even then as the day goes on, the soreness comes back... I have an appointment set up for Monday to see what's going on...
Is this a common Orienteering ache? I mean, the pain is at such a weird place!

Running 32:12 [3] 5.5 km (5:51 / km)
(injured)

Woke up super early today (7:30!!) to see if my lab partners had finished their share of our collective project... They hadn't.
So for two hours before I had to leave the house to make it to that class, I busted out the rest of the paper (thanks guys...)
As soon as I was leaving though, I got an email from the school saying that the professor cancelled all classes for today!

Pros: No class
Cons: Woke up ridiculously early for no reason

At this point I had too much adrenaline to go back to sleep, so my dad and I went to the center where he walked Lemon's Haunt and I did the Race Loop + ran a little extra to meet up with him.

There were some areas that still had a thick, dense layer of snow, and others where there was just a giant mud pit in the middle of the trail, but for the most part, it was a good dry hilly run =) *I'll try to find out what the climb was later*

Running 27:30 [3]
(injured)

Yesterday, I went and found my wellness and alternative medicine teacher to ask what she thought would be the best way to heal the bruise on my thigh, after a couple of suggestions, we agreed that arnica and kt tape would be the best combination. Because it would not only help the muscle recover faster, but it would also take some of the stress out.

So running this morning was sorta a miracle...

Felt so lucky about finding the "remedy to the bruise", that I went to the store and bought a $1 scratch off ticket...

I won $5 =D

Yoga 15:00 [3]

Sun salutation with looooooong long looong pauses at Pigeon Pose and Child's pose

Pigeon- Really stretched out my sore thigh and loosened it up quite a bit

Child's- Felt really good to take the weight out of my lower back and stretch that area, as well as my hips

Note
(injured)

So onward with my bad luck streak!!

Was crossing the road this morning with my friend in the village to get hot chocolate (April decided that she wanted to have more snow and cold weather before the month is over) when a car (prius) came sliding in and hit me, making me fall onto my friend, who then fractured her elbow...

What else is going to happen this year? A Trump presidency?!

Anyways, here's the song of the day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-u5WLJ9Yk4

Running 1:47:00 [3]

Went to the Mt. Mansfield track and ran 800s at 2:30.
Managed to get in 9 before abandoning ship and running to music for the rest of the time. Lost track of how many laps I did after 14...

Orienteering race 1:56:00 [2]

So, here's where things started to suck.

After the sprint, I knew I wouldn't make the team because of 1) Doing the wrong course for the middle (aka, no points) and 2) Not being able to submit a 3k time (Nearest track was closed until May for reconstruction, and the next closest one I couldn't get a coach to meet me at) and having my petition disregarded.

So going into the race I could not find the motivation to actually race, I treated it more of a training...

I couldn't even talk to any of my teammates because I would completely choke up.

Racing in Europe these past three years with the team has created some of my best memories. Even in my first year overseas when I was only racing the tour, having that international experience under my belt gave me enough courage and motivation to really train to make the JWOC team in 2014. It also gave me the confidence I needed to handle the stress that came with racing internationally.

Going to mandatory training camps and races these years has made it so that orienteering was my top priority (even if my soccer team and teachers disagreed). It taught me what it meant to be disciplined about sport and how to take care of my body in an appropriate way. I'm happy to have become serious at 17-18 because I felt mature enough to go through these routines. Waking up at 6am, getting a proper breakfast, making sure I had all of my gear, washing my clothes, making sure I rested when needed, beating the boys to the morning trainings ;), and etc...

It also taught me how to deal with the worst possible outcomes of traveling and training and make me laugh at them (Cancelled flights, lost luggage, using prewrap as o-socks, twisted ankles, running with no compass...).

So running the long distance hurt me mentally because I knew I wouldn't be with my second family, and I wouldn't have a solid training with a team for my last possible summer... I kept thinking "all of my missed college classes/assignments and I have nothing to show for it", "Why did I work over time? I could have gone for a run instead!", and worst of all, "If only my father didn't get sick, then I could have had more time for trainings instead of driving to the hospital and staying there over night" which hurt even more because it's so silly of me to make that excuse, He's my dad.... but I still felt it nonetheless.... It felt like I did dedicate so much of this year to the sport and that I shot short handed...So the long course was Really, a long course because of all of my sad/stupid thinking.

So for now... I honestly have no idea what my plans are. I feel numb to the whole situation... My dad is getting remarkably better and I'm out of skiing shape and into the base stages of running shape... Time to run Trail-O? haha

Regardless,

Thank you Erin for all of your work with the Junior program and getting it to the place that it is now!

Also, Congratulations to all of the USA Juniors going to JWOC! I know you all will kick butt in Switzerland this summer!! =)
