orienteering race 1:33:52 [4] *** 11.0 km (8:32 / km)
22c

I ran blue...I can't believe it, but I did!!! I didn't mean to, well actually I did. Ok, I got to the start, and was looking at the start list, and I noticed that all of the elite women were registered as running blue. So just in case they actually did, I blue as well. A lady even showed me another start list naming all of the people on each course, and I was under blue, so I started out of the uber long course thinking that I was running the right course. Well, I got back after an hr and a half and I find out that I was actually supposed to run Red. Oh well, I had fun on the course and I get to see how I'll place overall within M21. :P:P
Felt really sluggish out on the course, and was way off my bearing on the way to control 2. Like waaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off!!!! Leap frogged the rest of the course with another Blue course runner, but I pulled away on the last 4 or 5 controls.

ultimate 45:00 [2]

Instead of going for a run, we played a game of ultimate in bare feet as cross-training!!!

running tempo 45:00 [4]

We drove out to a reservoir in some town I can't remember the name of, and it was pouring rain while we were sitting in the van. We had been there for about 5min before we just gave up waiting for it to stop and faced the pouring rain for a rather speedy warm-up run. We did 7.5min out fast, and then 7.5min fast back. It was pretty much uphill most of the way out, which made it nice for the way back!!! Out cool-down run was fine until it started pouring again, and then HAILING!!! That really stung... got back totally drenched and had to change and squish back into the van all damp. Fortunately dinner at an IHOP made everything all better.

running long 1:30:00 [2] 11.0 mi (8:11 / mi)

Did an 11 mile run, which I guess works out to be about 18km on a long, flat, and straight trail. Started out at about a zone 2, but it kinda sped up to about zone 3 near the 45min mark. Managed a little bit of off-trail running on the other side of the highway which was fun. Legs were starting to bang together a little bit by the end, but I got the wonderful 'after-you-train' feeling once it was all over.

running intervals 45:00 [5]

Did a 15min warm-up run, then 5 intervals of 3min hard 3 min off. Did pretty well, although I knew that I wasn't going my hardest. Had a few rather large hills to sprint up which was 'fun' I guess and then a powerline to follow. Finished it off with a 15min cool-down run back on the trail past the geysers. (or geezers and we like to call them :P)

running 1:00:00 [3]

Went for a run in the fields of West Yellowstone underneath the moon and with the 'wild' horses. Got some fence crossing practice as well which was fun.

orienteering race (long) 1:53:20 [4] *** 8.0 km (14:10 / km)
(sick)

Still pretty weak, but feeling much better than yesterday and the day before!!! I could actually run today!!! Improvement!!!!!!! Had a foolproof route to control 1 so that I would not get lost even if I tried, and it worked!!! I nailed control 1, and 2 and 3!!! Unfortunately my excellent orienteering couldn't keep up with me for control 4 and I had no idea where I was going. Had fun cutting across all of the trails on the way to 5 and only had a little bit of trouble with 6 cause I had oriented my map weirdly and was on the wrong side of the hill. I had decided on one route to 8, but ended up taking a different, maybe even better one by mistake. The only setback was the wall of green around the control that I was afraid I was going to get stuck in. I was crawling through it on my belly army style and even then it was a tight fit. Did the next 3 controls flawlessly, and then I had a little bit of trouble on 12. I wasn't quite sure where I had gone in from the road, and I was probably about 10m from the control when I decided that I wasn't where I thought I was and wondered around a little bit before coming back to the same spot that I thought I was and finally finding the control. The last controls were kinda boring since they were mostly through the fields, but I found them alright, and finished in 2nd!
