Not as good today. Mostly felt like I was moving slow. Also some not great routes.
Didnt see the small trail to the east for 2, taking that was better than what I did.
Bad bearing to 3.
Happy with 4 and 6. Not sure about 5, seemed to be several options, hit it fine, but I think there was a route to minimize the climb.
Legs started to feel dead leaving 6. 7 was good.
Planned to stay on the road much more than I did for 8, didnt see the trial off the small lot until I was there and changed my plan. 9-11 was fine.
Thought I was good to 12 also, but messed it up some how. Looking at GPS, I was good until about 200m from the control. I remember thinking I needed to turn south, and I did, but I did not need to, keeping the bearing I had would've taken me right into the control. After turning south and crossing the stream, I knew I wasnt right, but couldnt quickly figure out what I did.
Similar on 13, I thought the broad spur I was on was north of 13, but it was the one south. So I was too far south and figured that was the only thing I could've done so I came back north.
The14-18 stretch was fun. Had a couple bobbles that cost me a couple minutes each. Miss-identifying a hill on 17 and 18.
I'm convinced there are at least 18 routes better than what I did on 19, but I still cant find anything. I havent looked at other's GPS, so I'm eager to see what others did. Tried to go basically straight, and made a big S curve, so I ran a lot more than the straight line distance. Navigation wasnt hard, but the legs were done and me telling myself that there has to be a better way made this feel very long.
Compass was worse today, but still satisfied with this weekend.

Pretty happy with this overall. First time in Quantico land since 2014, I think.
Felt good to start, hills were much smaller than I expected, even after reading meet notes.
The 3-4 leg was about 3k, by far the longest leg I've had on an orienteering course. I didnt see any big linear feature around, so I went mostly straight. Wasnt worried about knowing exactly where I was for the first part of the leg. About half way through, I was feeling much less confident about where I was, and wanted to relocate before I got completely lost. I was a little more north than I expected once I relocated. Probably spent 4 minutes doing this. The rest of the leg was easy, just long.
Only real mistake was on 7. About a third into the leg, I was not feeling great about where I was. I stopped 1 stream too soon, and quickly knew I wasnt right, but wasnt sure where I was. I almost bailed to the road, but really didnt want to run all that extra distance. After a couple minutes, I figured the only thing I could've done was stop 1 stream too soon, so I ran south and things made sense again.
I was 100% confident 8 was a spur, it was not. Distance estimation and reading the control description saved me.
Greg passed me on the way to 9, kept up with him for a bit. 10 was much lower than I expected, so I missed it high. Had to reattack after passing it.
For 13, I was much further south than I thought, luckily there were enough streams that I could figure it out without stopping.
Compass bearings could use some work, but they feel much better than they did in the fall. Legs also felt much better today than I expected, though there wasnt much climb.
Planned to do this yesterday, but school got in the way.
Also, the next few days will be tough for me as I come to terms with the fact Aaron Rodgers will no longer be a Packer. Please keep me in your thoughts thank u
