Day 1. 5.2km straight line. Took a while to get used to 1:15 map scale at first and also the long legs. I took my time finding #1 which was in a very vague area but managed not to panic and relocated quite quickly. Same with #2; I got dragged right a bit but easily relocated off a big crag. Slight miss on #3 but after that everything was great! Finished 8th/about 60.

Map walk on Holmasa with mum. More helping her get into the terrain, but good for picking out features and understanding the contours.

More training. Hestra-Ekas. Tried going a bit faster which seemed to go alright. Hillier area.

Training race on the third area, Holmasa. Decided to stick to the 3.1km Blue course. Nav was good and felt like I was moving at a good pace.

Arrived in Sweden about 9:30am. Put our tent up on the gravel pit that was the O-Ringen campsite, had lunch and went training. Area called Rydboholm. Planned myself a course, but after getting lost for a while on the first control I decided to make it a bit shorter and walk for the rest of it. Was still pretty rubbish for the next few, even at such a slow pace. Navigation did improve throughout fortunately.

Run around Filey with Hannah, Chloe and Laura. Two ice baths in the sea, included; a race around a maze; a play in the park; a visit to the Filey monster and a quick paddle to clean up in the kids pool. Twas bare good.
