Orienteering race 58:04 [4] 5.8 km (10:01 / km) +170m 8:44 / km
British Champs. Had a really late start so I knew what times people had done before I'd even left for the start. Jenny had done 48 which I knew was a pretty good time. Felt like a chose a pretty good route for the first control to try and avoid as much climb as possible because I knew that that was what annoys my calves, and I also wanted to get off to a good start, which I did. Had to go up a ridiculously massive hill to number two which killed off the calves straight away-.- I was then running rather awkwardly and slowly for the next bit of the course. I found all the controls very well which annoyed me as I then knew it was just my stupid calves that slowed me down. They carried on hurting all the way up to the road crossing at which point I had a minutes rest basically for the minute time out. The rest of the course after that was pretty much flat and they eased up and I was able to run which felt very good indeed! I was running fast from then on and at this point all I was bothered about was getting inside championship time for Deeside (which I did - my 4th). I felt good running which I hope was a result of my training leading up to the event. I ended up 11th, 10 mins down on Jenny. (I actually managed to jump up two places when they finally decided to take off the time for the minute timed out section, presumably because I took 59 seconds for it;D)
