Black Rock and Cromford Moor. I thought my navigation within the control circle was a bit sloppy, but I think it was actually just a bad map. Felt like I was moving okay so I was a bit surprised how id managed to be so slow... I guess just an accumulation of small time losses at most controls! Bad race really.

British Relays. Junior AdHoc with Yasmin and Jake Field. N/C because Jake was too old... Got to do a lovely 2.6km orange course on first leg woo! Bombed off down the hill for the first half of the course. Getting ahead of the younger boys because they kept stopping at the controls. They pulled away from me at the uphill for the last few controls though.. Realisation I need to get fitter when I cant keep up with M14s on an orange course:/ good warm down for yesterday I guess ;)

Various bits of jogging and drills to fill some time as I was at the start pretty early.

British Champs, Brierley and New Beechenhurst. W18E, 7.7km.
Good to #1 and #2. #3 I wasn't sure if my route choice was best.. Went up the ride over the spur and then contoured around the valley. Clearly contoured much higher than I thought as I was looking a good 100m before the control. Soon noticed the shape of the contours and found it. Lost ~1min. #4 was in a complicated section and I was a bit scrappy but found it eventually. Maybe lost another 1min. Rest up the crossing point were fine (just a very slow slog up the hill to #6:///). Took #10 steady as it was quite vague, but found it well. I was too far right for #12 but fortunately saw someone go into it;) I was pretty shattered at this point and it hit me how seriously unfit I am:/ All the way to the finish my navigation was fine, but I was just so slow! Walked a lot of it.

Ended up 20 minutes behind HO in 8th. Position doesn't sound too bad but then some people are at WSOC who would have beaten me too. Bit depressed about it all tbh.

Too early for my liking... Got called up to play for the West Yorkshire league team as they were obviously short. 15 minute quarters at C for first 3 then WA because I was shattered. Really good game but the other team were just too good (4th in the league I believe). We lost 39-50 I think. But I got joint player of the match so yay :)

JK Relay. Graythwaite (The Colonel's Drive). Women's Trophy, 2nd leg. SYO's first team with Pippa and Laura. (Defending champions. No pressure.) Technically sound for the entire course! Shame I couldn't run... Calves had completely seized up and it was really painful to just walk:/ I guess going this slow is what made the navigation pretty easy. Dont know where the team ended up... Not 1st, I can safely say.

JK Day 2, Bigland. W18E, 6.9km.
This was made harder by the fact I couldn't read the bloody 1:15000 map D: Anyway, good to #1and2 (although made harder in the open by the mist). #3 I was much too far left. Noticed a tiny little fenced area and re-attacked from there. Lots of people I spoke to were too far left on this control as well... #7 I wasn't quite sure what was what when I got within the circle so wandered for a bit until a group of people came along and led me into the control:/ #11 was a mega leg. Never been faced with anything like that before. Didn't know what route to take but tried to stay near the line so stayed high and attacked from the top of the hill. Scrappy into it, though; I always knew where I was but I kept going the wrong way so had to keep readjusting -.- (dad showed me his route after, which was dropping down, and I realised that that would have been much better! But ah well...) #12 I just wasn't in the right reentrant! Eventually found it. Shoutout to Beth for guiding me into #13 (thanks:D) ;) Another long leg to #14 which I think I took a good route for! It was simple so allowed me to run faster and gave me a good AP into the control at the end. #16 I just couldn't read the detail and so wandered for a bit before stopping and squinting at the map to work out what was going on... Nasty uphill finish:/ Third average run of the weekend. 18th. Again. 17th overall.

JK Day 2, Ulpha Park and Barrow Fell. W18E, 4.4km.
Awesome flow through the first three controls, just a tiny miss on #3 as I did a small loop around the top of the spur. #4 on the fell was bad... I took a bearing and also contoured across the slope, but I went too high and missed it. Went to two other controls on similar, parallel crags before realising I had gone much too far. Lost ~4mins. Next couple of legs across the more technical slope were very good. #10 across the road I missed as I was too low on the slope. Adjusted fairly quickly but still lost maybe 2mins. Rest of the controls were then fine again, but #14 up the hill was a killer... A long way behind Fiona in the end but another average run that was what I expected. 18th.

Felt like the limited geeking I did of the map helped me a bit which was comforting. Pretty smooth through most of the controls, just struggled to pick routes on some of them. One of the longer legs I definitely missed the shortest route as I didn't realise that they way I had planned was blocked off:/ Lost about 20secs on #8 where I got slightly confused and went through the wrong underpass so had to run around the building. Apart from this I was just steady and nowhere near fast enough to be up with the top girls. Not disappointed with this run; it was just what I expected really.

Vs Monumentals. Lady on our team fell badly on her ankle so we had to stop for 10 mins in the middle of the match:/ but I felt really fit, which was unexpected. Didn't feel like I was putting much effort in but apparently I was and so they gave me player of the match... Nice. We won:D
