Running 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km) +50m 4:48 / km
ahr:147 max:167 shoes: Sauchony Guide 7

Easy run with Kate for first 4K, then a little harder on my own for last 2K. We ran over to where BHP used to be on the northern side of Industrial drive. The somewhat abandoned industrial area had a cool feel too it (especially right at sunset).

HR monitor i don't think was working

Running intervals 35:00 [4] 5.6 km (6:15 / km)
ahr:160 max:208 shoes: Saucony Guide 5 Orange

Maybe time for a new battery in my HR monitor.

Intervals were 2 sets of 1K, 400m, 400m, 1K with aprox 90 sec recovery. With City2Surf on Sunday, went easy (sorta--4:05ish pace) on the 1Ks.

Running warm up/down 14:00 [3] 2.5 km (5:36 / km)
ahr:145 max:159 shoes: Saucony Guide 5 Orange

Since I didn't want to risk hurting my back right before City2Surf, didn't do the core work but had an extra long cool down run.

ahr:163 max:178 shoes: La Sportiva

And another opportunity goes begging! Had a brilliant run except for control #15 where I lost 8:49!!!!! It should have been a straight forward leg. Come over the ridge pick up the line of rock features and follow it down to the control. Some how I completely missed it! Then went round in circles for a bit. Relocated from the tree root mound and gully at the top of the ridge AND STILL MISSED IT. Wandered around a bit more until I finally spotted it. It was a really well placed control and I'd like to say that the rock features might not be properly mapped there (but that's only because I couldn't match the mapped features to anything I was looking at and so might be more my problem than the maps). End of story is that what should have taken me under a minute took 9:42!! Other than that near perfect. Since Macey has been sick and hurt his ankle, I would have gotten the win but for #15.....
