Orienteering Meet 1:30:33 [4] 4.2 km (21:34 / km)

I feel really good about this race beyond my mistakes on 7 and 14. For the first part of the race I was in constant contact with the map and I felt great about my route choices and flow. I lost focus when I was headed towards number 7 and I completely ignored the little voice in my head that said "you're kinda loosing contact with your map..." and continued on my way when I should've stopped and figured things out. It was overall about a 20 minute mistake during which I might of accidently aligned the north of my compass with the south of my map, a mistake I'm sure I'll never make again. As for 14 I simply shut my brain off prematurely and managed to flounder around way more than necessary to get to the control.

I'd love to be able to run on the Moreau Lake state park map again someday, it was pretty different from what I'm used to, the distinct lack of green on the map is something I've not really seen before.

Orienteering Meet 23:33 [3] 2.4 km (9:49 / km)

I thought the sprint was a lot of fun, It was fairly fast paced but still required sharp navigation. I had a good run but I'll need to try to iron out moments of hesitation in the future and push my speed a bit more. I was reluctant to run all out since I knew I had two more days of racing.

Note

Leave for NY on a red-eye tonight directly after my Physics midterm. I asked for a late start time on the sprint but I wound up with 2:45. Hopefully we'll be able to get there in time.

I did the interval training for this week. I plan on spending tomorrow doing a lot of armchair orienteering and studying for this weekend

We have a sledding hill in the back of our wooded property that I ran up and down. It's pretty overgrown with wild grasses and mole hills so it was a bit of a terrain workout too.

I got to see a Red Tailed Hawk today, but I think there's only one Gnome left in the Preserve. At least I only saw one today.
