NSW Athletics Championships. Day 3/3. Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre. 2.15-7.15pm. 31°C. 48%rh.
A more experienced team of umpires today so event transitions worked more smoothly. Amazing that we got to the end of the 3-day program without a single report (although there were 2 DQs from the starter team and one DQ in the walk). Got some good feedback from Kim looking ahead of my L3 exam.
Today's events: 200m (26), 800m (6), hurdles (4), steeplechase (2).
Bethany finished 4th in the 800m final (2:08.95). Went out hard, 2nd at the bell (64.1), within 0.5s of her PB and a medal.
Headlines: Coalition hits $20b brick wall on health (state demands) / Short shrift - Crisp hitting might not be enough to avoid axe (Steve Smith, cricket)

Another uneventful day with more events moving to finals. Steve Solomon did find a proper Randwick-Botany top for his 400m final which he won.
Today's events. 100m (17), 400m (7), 800m (6), 1500m (2), 400m hurdles (1), 5000m walk (1).
Bethany qualified for another final by running 2:10.60 in her 800m heat (3rd fastest overall). But this probably took the edge of her 400m final (57.37, 8th place) three hours later.

Surprised to be appointed TR for all 3 days. No decisions required today but I did have to ask Steve Solomon why he wasn't wearing his club uniform in the 400m heat. He said it didn't fit him anymore but he would try to borrow one for the final.

Sams Creek loop (ACW: run-hike-run). First time down here since June. Have to watch my footing on the walking trail down from Berkeley. Still find it tricky to find the lower start of Sams Creek track back to Ti-Tree trail. There is no signage, just a solitary pink streamer high up on a tree. This trail has been widened by trimming back some of the shrubbery. 30°C. 57%rh. TE 2.6.
