Exactly 40km. I've wanted to do this ride for a while and thought I'd better get at least one circuit in before the lockdown rules tighten again. All within Hornsby LGA. Didn't push too hard on the flatter sections as the Galston Gorge climb was a bit of an unknown and I didn't want to be too tired on the Berowra Waters climb at 35km either. Nice tailwind on Bay Road through Arcadia. Ferry a bit busy with families crossing back to the east car park after fishing. QR ferry check-in but avoided wearing a mask while I rehydrated with 500ml of water. Comfortably under 2 hours. 17°C. TE 3.4.
Galston Gorge (west side): 3.16km, +180m, 5.7%, 14:11, +12.7m/min.
Berowra Waters (east side): 3.96km, +208m, 5.3%, 19:06, +10.9m/min.

Headwind going out. Looking forward to a tailwind coming back but it seemed to be a crosswind at best. Chased, caught and passed another cyclist on the big hill before PITS. Strava calls it PIG Hill - 12" PB. 22°C. TE 3.2.

Surprised to get up Impossible Hill #1 without stopping. First time in a long while. Legs were burning because the true top is 150m further along. Not so good on the other 2 big hills. 2 walkers, 2 MTBs, 1 4WD (council ranger). 19°C. TE 2.9.

Got my SIAC stick back from Germany today with a new battery - $29 including postage to AUS and bank fees. (Total $57 there and back.) It took 51 days but I didn't miss any O events - well none that Gladys allowed me to go to. SPORTident also sent me 2 new finger straps and a string bag that looks like a full size orange/white control flag. I could really cause some havoc if I wore this as a backpack during an event.

Notes for next time: SI Germany wouldn't accept credit cards, only a bank transfer. Local bank wanted a $20 fee. PayPal would be free but is not available from Australia. Western Union would be cheap but won't sent to business accounts. XE Money Transfer was a bit convoluted to set up but only charged a $4 fee.

Berowra<>Gnomesville, Hornsby Heights. Similar ride to last Sunday, but didn't have enough time to go all the way to Crosslands. Somerville Road is a good 8km hit out on a wide road with minimal traffic, some small climbs and no traffic lights, roundabouts or cross streets (only side streets). 17°C. TE 3.3.
