MTB (new tyre) 1 [0]
slept:6.75 weight:65kg (injured) (rest day) shoes: Giant XTC Adv 29er 2 (grey)

Replaced the rear tyre on my MTB (1418km, 102.7hrs). Specs: Maxxis Ikon 29 x 2.2" 3C/EXO/TR ($90). Used 2oz (59ml) of Giant sealant. Park Tool video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lKRYuaxLls) seemed to have the most practical instructions if you only have access to a hand pump. The tyre seemed to pop into place nicely at about 30psi. Front tyre still has enough tread for now.
Calf a lot better today. May go for a ride tomorrow in one of my rare visits to the office.
Headlines: Vaccine ads to target fearful young women (COVID-19 campaign) / Pace battery - Speedsters hit top gear to put hosts in driver's seat (Third Test, cricket)

Hunter Track Classic, Fearnley-Dawes Athletics Track, Newcastle. 2.30-7.30pm. 22°C.
Easterly wind pushed most sprints over the legal limit and made things tough for the distance runners in the back straight. Small prize money on offer for most finals ($70-30-15). Bethany picked up 2nd (56.87) in the 400 but tired in the last 1.5 laps of the 1500 to finish 6th (5:01).
An easy program - no hurdles, steeple, split starts, lapped runners. 14 x 100m, 13 x 200m, 10 x 400m, 3 x 1500m, 1 x 3000m.
Headlines: COVID-19 mutations put state on high alert / Get that India - Smith bursts back into form with 27th Test ton but Australia fail to ram home advantage (Third Test, cricket)

Giving my calf injury some rest. Annoyed that I can't continue to explore new locations a bit further from home while I'm on leave.
Headlines: GPs take lead on vaccine strategy / Concussion expert's warning for battered Pucovski (cricket)

Hornsby MTB Trail. Surprised I hadn't been here before. Some long flowing sections as well as some technical drops over rocks and steep cambered turns. Did three loops of the main section, one loop of the east side near the pool (mostly climbing), and the black and blue loops in the small rocky area south of and above Quarry Road. Lower section of the main trail was a bit slick and muddy. 24°C. TE 2.0.

Berowra-Waitara loop (CW). Definite headwind on the way back, so I probably had a tailwind heading out. Still feeling fatigued from Sunday's long ride. 29°C. TE 2.1.

Calabash Labyrinth, Arcadia. A network of single tracks running along the ridges on both sides of Calabash Road. Not steep or overly technical. Very twisty, so not fast. The main drawbacks are the spiderwebs and spiders. Only explored a fraction of the tracks. Some are marked with green or blue arrows. 27°C. TE 1.5.
