"Stanford Merthyr". 24/30c. Net 41 points (max 56). 5:11 late (6 pts penalty). 12th/31 (14 pts behind Paul Youman). 21°C. TE 3.7.
Relatively flat. Some very sticky muddy sections on the way to 226. Lost a lot of time in the tricky SE corner. Probably should have done this area first where the controls were closer and skipped some in the north.
Sequence: #1-235, #2-221, #3-211, #4-201, #5-214, #6-226, #7-215, #8-225, #9-234, #10-216, #11-208, #12-217, #13-207, #14-202, #15-224, #16-232, #17-203, #18-233, #19-218, #20-205, #21-231, #22-227, #23-204, #24-222, #25-F.
Time lost: #2-missed minor track (-1:15); #3-many more thickets than shown on map (-1:10); #4- thickets much bigger than they appear on map (-2'); #20-couldn't find track to 206 so went to 205 (-3:40); #21-missed track and ended up back at #20 (-3'). Total time lost 11:05.

"Eric Mobbs Reserve", Castle Hill. Long: 3.1km, 18c. 25th/38 (12:13 behind Maris Jansons, Latvia). 20°C. TE 3.5.
Very steep descent (40m) shortly after the start and then a climb back. Too many costly errors, especially in the second half. #4 - Wrong turn (lost 50"). #11 - Got to #12 before I realised I'd gone too far (-3:20). #17 - Wrong track (-45").

Rain. Was supposed to be chief track umpire at the Little Athletics State Championships today but this has been cancelled due to coronavirus precautions. Next weekend's junior classes (U14-18) of the Australian Athletics Championships have been cancelled while the following week's U20, open & para classes have also been postponed. Could be a moot point if the Tokyo Olympics & Paralympics are cancelled. The good news is I am now free to run in SL1 and MetrO 1 next weekend.

Holroyd Sportsground. 8 x 200m @ 80% (with 200m walk/jog recovery) with warm-up and warm-down. Grass had been mowed but lane markings no longer visible. Ran a measured 200m along the boundary. A bit bumpy - not a particularly fast track. I might try the Old Kings Oval near Parramatta Park next time.
