Orienteering race 21:45 [3] 3.87 km (5:37 / km) +60m 5:13 / km

‘Rest’ day sprint, Crieff. Pretty much a clean run. Saw a couple of possibly less hilly routes looking at the map afterwards but a decent result (23rd/69). Messrs Barrable and Goddard mp’d and Will won in 17.19. Fastest run-in on the course for 3rd day in a row.

Orienteering race 41:42 [3] 3.71 km (11:14 / km) +125m 9:37 / km

Day 3, middle distance race at Dundurn. Terribly scrappy performance, only really did 6 to 9 cleanly, and fortunate to escape with 5th place. Really lost touch with the map hunting for #4 and found lots of grot and bog towards the end. Brad 1st and Fraser 4th.

Orienteering race 50:44 [3] 6.25 km (8:07 / km) +150m 7:15 / km

Day 2 Edinchip. Much better run and a good mixed area. Spiked quite a few controls and safe route to 7 hitting the path worked well. Route to 10 approaching from the west was ok although others have faster splits. Getting very boggy later on. Pleased with 3rd place. Brad 4th, Fraser 2nd.

Orienteering warm up/down 50:00 [3] 4.0 km (12:30 / km)

Walk to/from start/finish.

Scottish 6 days, M45S Day 1 Auchengarrich. Total shambles, 15 min error at #3 then poked in the eye by a branch at 6 and had to retire. A mistake not to wear goggles. Commentary announced I was in the lead as I walked down the run-in.

Orienteering warm up/down 45:00 [3] 3.5 km (12:51 / km)

Walk to assembly and start.

Hill Running race 37:00 [3] 5.0 km (7:24 / km) +300m 5:42 / km

Luss highland games hill race. 9th place. Sluggish up the hill in the heat, in need of water, but did well on the descent, didn’t get lost like last time, and overtook 5 or 6 that did get lost!

Orienteering 59:50 [3] 10.0 km (5:59 / km)

Rutherglen postbox-o. Pretty hilly and managed an annoying 180 degree error in the woodland at the Cathkin bypass! But a decently planned route overall.
