off road 2:52:00 [3] 14.8 mi (11:37 / mi)

A bit of an unusual day in that I was running in one of the Venla teams -I don't think that this will happen again. It also gave the opportunity to run with two of my kids albeit virtually on one day. This is a pretty rare occurrence (although the whole family took part in our London Marathon day 2.6 challenge) so appreciated, particularly as care of small children complicates. The arrangements to run with Dave on Sunday also suffered with child care interference but on the morning I saw the opportunity to do both by combining, so actually ran the leg with Dave basically around the woods/ Stinchcombe GC and then footpaths round the valley head and into Wotton. So taking a segment as a section of the longer outing.
The longer outing took a bit longer than I had anticipated which may have been a result of the faster section. We also missed a turn and had to use an overgrown footpath -beating through nettles in shorts is not fun and probably took 5mins plus. In contrast rest of run was fun, and when not running Venla lots of chat.

Note

Should have got out today, quite busy but no real excuse for day off

Thursday Jun 11, 2020 #

off road 1:36:26 [3] 9.0 mi (10:43 / mi)

Ran the route from Cold Ashton to near & Marshfield and Rocks and Limestone link. Stopped watch for a while so had to reconstruct time. Grey day with some wind but still very dry underfoot and hence quick. Little fussing around over the route, which was a nice change

Wednesday Jun 10, 2020 #

off road 1:39:28 [3] 9.7 mi (10:15 / mi)

Ran with Chris from Cross, a strange mixture of running fast along the flat, stopping to check the map and hill climbing. Running pretty hard to keep up with Chris. From Cross along rhyne to and up Crooks Peak, ridge to Wavering Down then, down and up to Callow Hill, down and around Cheddar Reservoir and back along rhyne. Felt so much better today than last days Good to run with a stronger runner. Rain stopped and great view from tops and also into the abyss of Callow Hill quarry

off road 1:11:36 [3] 6.8 mi (10:32 / mi)

Wanted an easier day so went to Littleton on Severn and ran up the river to Oldbury, past the church and back through the web of lanes and footpath. Run had the usual stropy cows blocking gates and traditional standing in fields looking at the hedge opposite playing style or no style but on a warm sunny morning the river was great and the flat route novel. Thumbs up

Monday Jun 8, 2020 #

off road 1:09:18 [3] 6.0 mi (11:33 / mi)

Leigh Woods standard route. Stiff and sore in particular my chest and RHS thigh but more also more generally. Did not take Ipobrufen which in retrospect was a mistake. So although the day was an idyllic sunny early summer one, and the woods were very inviting (Good place for orienteering!) running was a struggle and slow and I did not enjoy it much. I suspect run slowest for some time need to be cautious for a few days

Sunday Jun 7, 2020 #

off road 2:45:00 [2] 13.1 mi (12:36 / mi)

Ran from King Billy with Dave and Celia, CW south to Haresfield Beacon, then east into valley at Pitchcomb and up to Painswick returning over the Beacon. Not quite so good as previous and lots of walking on big hills, which was ok with me as not feeling good. Still very picturesque and a nice jaunt with good company
