Note

A bit stiff and sore, fall has knocked me about a bit more than I thought? So decided to take a short 'rain check'

Friday Jun 5, 2020 #

off road 1:33:36 [3] 8.3 mi (11:17 / mi)

Ran with Paul from the Old Spot, it seems to be that driving for 30-45 mins to meet up and run as a two or three is within both the law and spirit of the regulations. Really enjoyed the run and the company, the Cotswold countryside is beautiful and at this time of year the woods we just lovely. The route followed parts of the Dursley Dozen and so Paul had to endure near endless tales of great deeds and how I managed to secure mid-table results a couple of times. Struggled on the first hill, basically straight out of the car and after that a bit generally sore after yesterdays fall, pace a little on the slow side and must have felt very gentle for Paul who fortunately is patient

off road 2:09:00 [3] 12.0 mi (10:45 / mi)

Met up with Chris and ran from the Swan in Rowberrow. Ran down road past church then down path to join Tinsel Trot route up through the wood, Tynings Farm across bone dry Somme to Trig point then down across road and Ham to Burrington, re-joining Tinsel but rather than going to Hill Fort reclimbed hill by edge of wood then back across to Trig, then retraced Tinsel route. Stayed with Chris till top of second climb when he disappeared into the distance. Good route, countryside and views splendid. Tripped on way down, impact most on knees, thigh and shoulder slight cut above eye so shaken but not stirred. Falling over seems to be quite regular ~ perhaps 3 or 4 times in last six months - this seems to be yet another delight of getting older. I wonder if its just me or if its common. Going to be stiff tomorrow

Did not run today. Still a bit weary

Tuesday Jun 2, 2020 #

off road 1:04:30 [3] 6.0 mi (10:45 / mi)

Standard Purdown run. Felt quite good but not pushing on and in retrospect taking it a bit easy so quite a lot slower than recent efforts. Met Chris Johnson out mapping and chatted but messed up the timing so its a bit of a guess. Could be the last hot day for a while

off road 1:23:05 [3] 8.0 mi (10:23 / mi)

CW north from the Dog, yet another splendid day for running. Was finding the hills quite hard and RHS knee played up a bit on the return. so 4 mins slower than last time -2mins on both the way out 42.31 and back. Less zip today but not a surprise and given that not too bad a time. Need a couple of easier days to restore some equilibrium.

May has been epic, in total 224 miles. I am frankly a bit surprised and chuffed that I managed this Not the way to train for anything but then I am not training for anything just enjoying running in our spectacularly beautiful countryside in the sun, relishing being alive and how fortunate I am and maybe even a glimpse of a distant much younger self. Sometimes I just think life is great. Still looking forward to June, which hopefully will be more sociable which will mean less running
April 198.5 miles, March 192.2 miles
