off road 1:01:09 [3] 6.0 mi (10:12 / mi)

Purdown on a very pleasant, warm sunny Spring Saturday. Quite a lot of people out and had my first slight altercation with a guy who stood in a gate so I could squeeze past but eventually and very grudgingly he moved and about a minute later a young runner swerved off the main path (to avoid me? I was about to divert into the undergrowth) onto a side path, unfortunately there was a young family and he needed to stop or divert again but his momentum took him straight through. This social distancing >3m is a bit trickier in practice and I do need to consider best times to run. I bet Matt Hancock is hoping for rain.
Quite a fast time but did need to make a couple of small diversions so standard would probably have been 62+ mins. This was a pleasant surprise as having to work on hills.

off road 1:42:21 [3] 9.0 mi (11:22 / mi)

Similar route to Sunday (Purdown, Eastville Park, Frome Valley, Oldbury Court, Frenchay) but perhaps a little further in places. Good going underfoot and went quite well and no so tired towards the end. Today was a bit warmer as well. Quite pleased but thought that the time might be a little quicker. But still lots of good training

off road 1:03:34 [3] 6.0 mi (10:36 / mi)

Purdown run, underfoot still hard and fast. Weather pretty grey and colder than of late. Three notable feature about the many exercising in the park. All seem to recognise the need for social distancing, many have no quite got the idea that this might involve a change in their direction preferring to freeze and be missed, most seem to think 2m = (about) 3-4 feet, but in general I would observe that most really do seem to be behaving in line with the advice. Not much to say about today's run

off road 1:18:17 [3] 7.0 mi (11:11 / mi)

Frome Valley but with some deviations from normal. Having to work quite hard on some of the later hills. Another mild spring day.
So achieved aim of running every day in March (192 miles).
Training in December was mixed with a cold over Xmas and a bit of a chore in January and enthusiasm ground down with niff, naff and trivia, orienteering admin. February was holiday orienteering in Spain and Portugal both the orienteering and the hols bit was very enjoyable, but from a training perspective only 20 miles a week. So decided to do what I really like which is running in the countryside on bright sunny Spring days. So that's what I have done and it has just been great fun, As a bonus the first time in some years only occasional Iprobrufen, and my arthritic knees are neither better nor worse. And I feel really good. Which is handy as current restrictions do make life dull and we may need to endure for some while.

Monday Mar 30, 2020 #

off road 1:02:09 [4] 6.0 mi (10:22 / mi)

A frustrating day mostly spent listening to recorded messages which suggest using their automated system to avoid talking to someone in the hope that they can explain how I have cocked up their automated system and what to do about in terms I can understand which I probably won't ...….still bring back the quill pen and ink I say!
So fairly fired up and racing shoes on for a tilt at the Old Standard Purdown route and a bit more time shaved off. Its pretty bone dry but a grey day with perhaps a hint of damp in the air. It would be great if the faster times were down to running improvement rather than the change from greasy ankle deep mud

off road 1:44:14 [3] 9.0 mi (11:35 / mi)

Overdressed initially as forecast was for Winter to return but actually although windy another pleasant morning. Knew I was going to be a bit creaky today so dragged myself around a longer route. Purdown, Frome Valley, Oldbury Court and back through Frenchay Village. Struggling a bit in the later stages, perhaps not a surprise because although have been running regularly few longer outings recently.
