Note

Went to Whiteford to look at changeover for September race
1 AM

off road 15:00 [2] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)

Warm up including beach
2 AM

orienteering race 49:06 [5] 5.0 km (9:49 / km)

SBOC at Oxwich- nice sunny day and a really cleverly planned course on a postage stamp area (pi loop) which made you feel you were not covering the same ground. I will definitely try this at some occasion.
Ran quite well - just catching Alice (2 mins?) at one point but she recovered the time to be 2 secs in front at the Finish. It was interesting comparing the splits that I took a straight line to 13, (with green and fence crossing) where as she took a round path route and was 1 min quicker. Later I went to the wrong tree and had to divert also losing time but in general our pace was similar, which is encouraging

off road 1:30:00 [3] 7.5 mi (12:00 / mi)

With Alice, Mark, Helen and Chris from Portishead Lido -over the hill and back along the coast path. Went well except for complete screw up in the wood trying to avoid the busy road section near Weston in Gordano

Note

Walk (and loads of coffee and cake) with Pete and Ash at Mells

Wednesday May 29, 2019 #

orienteering race 1:20:00 [4] 6.0 km (13:20 / km)

Prime purpose was to kick off next years controlling at Lynchmere/ Holcombe but went to Hankley (a different bit). Arrived late (for various reasons ) so pressed for time and then could not find no 6 ( a pit in dense young trees) -left site and pressed on as constrained for time. This proved to be quite meaningless so cut short. A bit of a waste

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:18:07 [5] 6.7 km (11:40 / km)

Midland Champs at Brown Clee Hill,
I had been clean through the open in the British but could not repeat the performance stuffing up on several controls at least one badly. To my surprise I caught Chris Kelsey......who had been even worse. A bit disappointed in how much he gained on me over thr downhill forest section. His overall time was seconds faster than mine......but both were actually rubbish, in particular we were both thrashed by Pete (again!) -he is in a rich vein of form.
