off road 1:53:00 [3] 10.5 mi (10:46 / mi)

Ran with Pete from Portishead Lido up and down ridge to Clevedon and back along the coast path. Quite cold but a nice day to run and kept up quite a solid pace

road run 17:00 [2] 1.0 km (17:00 / km)

Enjoyed the warm up!
2 AM

orienteering race 1:20:23 [5] 7.3 km (11:01 / km)

Bulford Ridge, the other half which had the spiky bushes but not the interesting twiddles. The vegetation on the map if it had ever been correct was in need of a refresh it must have been a nightmare for the planner. There were six or seven times that I got stuck in horrid thorns at least three times I had to crawl, two controls where I chose what should have been viable routes and from the splits must have spent 4- 5 mins in the thorns. That said I did not help my cause made a couple of really bad mistakes and was slow to learn. Others had the same challenges but addressed them. When I finished I was dead last (and it has to be said in a bit of a grump). It was however a really nice sunny day and frustratingly I was quite quick over some of the legs and was enjoying it when I was not getting scratched.
Would I go back certainly, if I go to one army race next season it will be here I can do much better - I owe the area one

flat efforts 50:31 [4] 4.0 mi (12:38 / mi)

Oldbury Court this was meant to be an old fashioned 4x 1 mile session except that it was not 1 mile, I know this because the efforts were between 6 -8.5 mins and I cannot run fast enough to run a mile in that time to save my life. It may also have been more than 4 as I chased a runner (unsuccessfully)up the hill on the way back. Basically the same route as doing the 2 mins but 3 at a time (inc. extra section) and 2.5- 3 mins gap. All a bit haphazard but this is a definite area of weakness and although not very quick with that in mind it was definitely ok

Monday Mar 5, 2018 #

off road 1:07:54 [3] 7.0 mi (9:42 / mi)

Leigh Woods run, a balmy 9 degrees. Surprisingly dry underfoot but the river was very full. Ran in a T shirt and should have worn shorts but did not, Quite pleased with the time seemed to be fluent today

Sunday Mar 4, 2018 #

off road 1:05:17 [3] 6.0 mi (10:53 / mi)

Ran on Purdown, standard loop, started in sunshine and some remnant snow but after 10 mins a heavy and persistent rain shower. Much warmer today. Our climate really is quite odd. Ran quite well today I guess it seems easier without snow.
Note
The North Somerset team went for a run on the Mendips but I did not see e-mail till too late which is a shame. I did however go out for a walk
