Training Log Archive: Old Daniel

La Guilaumand, chasing start -decided to go for it. Running leg to start with caught 1 min man but could nor find flag -might have been a bit unfair. Badly overshot 2 following 2 min mam. Careful into 3 but miss read map -then followed others. Unsure of location went out and found flag on second attempt -35 mins - found next few them another running leg -found fence (unmarked) assumed completely wrong actually right followed others, could not sort out. Very, very hot so walked back -eventually 55 mins new where I was so finished race.
Quite distressed with de- hydration / heat.

Enjoyed running here but really need to think about tactics and be patient and tolerant of not right first time

La Guilaumand. 9th winner 43.15.
Lost time on 3-4 cave found it very difficult to understand undulations in the circle, 3 mins, 5-6 spurned safe option but missed flag found comtrol on pit so only lost 2 mins, 9-10 2 mins -did not see flag

La Figoyrol -quite easy to start with but then another complex square loop 6-7 misread rocks and had to relocate from top of hill 3 mins, 7-8 nothing to go on but found hill beyond flag 2.5 mins, 8-9 could not see flag back out to pond and ok on second go.

La Figoyrol. All going well till 6-7 short leg but got to far right in heavy green eventually got out and guessed correctly location -gaps between huge rocks but completely masked by vegetation -good line in from left ugh.... lost 6 mins. 2 mins down on leg not sure of this was a loss or gain -then got out of complex loop and ok. Winner 31.18 (21st)

La Figoyrol -not sure if this is really orienteering -too many controls in green that a bit of a treasure hunt but a wonderful location and hugely enjoyable whatever it actually was....would have preferred to do M55 or M50 but apparently not possible.
12th today winner 51.31. 2-3 2 mins went to re-entrant but not sure so went away and came back. 6-7 3 mins attacked from top took wrong elephant track and had to repeat -smart folk probably came from below? 7-8 too far right but recovered quickly

lost 40 secs - 1 to 2 confused by cafe/ spectators, 3-4 60 secs read alleys wrong, missed an alley 10-11
