Thursday Oct 31, 2019 #

off road 1:16:22 [3] 7.0 mi (10:55 / mi)

Blaise from Combe Dingle but omitting loop of castle and as ground wet used made path up the valley. Running later in the day a bit uncomfortable all the way round. That said and a bit tired time was ok

Wednesday Oct 30, 2019 #

1 AM

off road 12:00 [2] 0.8 km (15:00 / km)

2 AM

orienteering race 1:23:56 [5] 9.1 km (9:13 / km)

MLS Event in New Forest Roundhill -southern part of Denny Lodge.
Dead Flat, basically White map and basically you went straight. Could have been wetter some areas had bracken, most not. A couple of controls could have been a bit bingo but were actually fair. A good and enjoyable trip around the forest - no issue with foot as so soft. Tired in last 30% but held together, this may have contributed that although I had a good run I was almost bottom of list

Tuesday Oct 29, 2019 #

off road 1:12:00 [3] 7.0 mi (10:17 / mi)

BOK run from White Lion over Purdown and back along Frome Valley. Enjoyable

Monday Oct 28, 2019 #

off road 58:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:36 / mi)

Purdown standard route, not quite as muddy as expected did not take the time so just a guess

Sunday Oct 27, 2019 #

off road 18:00 [3] 1.5 km (12:00 / km)

Extensive Warm up
2 AM

orienteering 1:46:21 [5] 8.7 km (12:13 / km)

Sidbury Hill a bit of a disaster at the start -lost 7or 8 mins by 3, got snagged in bad brambles at 20 and had to stop with foot pain at 22 but despite all quite good during rest and really enjoyed run in sunshine.
Foot a bit worrying

Saturday Oct 26, 2019 #

Note

Rained all day - lack of motivation

Friday Oct 25, 2019 #

off road 1:02:21 [4] 6.0 mi (10:24 / mi)

Change of plan, partly due to rain but also family conference meant running at Lerigh Woods - perhaps because I needed to meet a finishing time pressed on today so felt more like a training session. The rain was not bad at all. Pleased with the time

Thursday Oct 24, 2019 #

off road 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Did not feel like running today but did simple potter around Purdown loop. Time a guess

Wednesday Oct 23, 2019 #

1 AM

road run 12:00 [2] 1.0 km (12:00 / km)

2 AM

orienteering race 1:00:23 [5] 8.0 km (7:33 / km)

MLS Score event at Mytchett. Really enjoy orienteering here. Actually prefer 'classic' orienteering to Score and quite a lot of track running/ easy controls but overall fine.

Tuesday Oct 22, 2019 #

off road 1:02:00 [4] 6.0 mi (10:20 / mi)

BOK run from the Cottage into Leigh Woods, included some efforts

Monday Oct 21, 2019 #

off road 56:01 [3] 5.0 mi (11:12 / mi)

Standard run from Swineford to Race course and Round Hill in the afternoon although a cold day, double figures by the sunny afternoon. Quite quick, particularly on the way down

Sunday Oct 20, 2019 #

off road 15:00 [2] 1.2 km (12:30 / km)

Good warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 52:31 [5] 4.9 km (10:43 / km)

Compassport cup at Pippinghford. Good in parts -did miss control 4 mostly because getting stuck in bracken. (1-2 mins) and then also lots time at both 10 and 11 (2 mins). The later putting me behind other BOKs. However a nice course, in an enjoyable area and good on some legs

Saturday Oct 19, 2019 #

off road 30:00 [2] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Mouch around Overscourt Wood

Friday Oct 18, 2019 #

off road 1:06:44 [3] 6.0 mi (11:07 / mi)

I thought weather would be wet so opted for Leigh Woods loop was actually fine but enjoyed run anyway

Thursday Oct 17, 2019 #

off road 1:13:16 [3] 6.5 mi (11:16 / mi)

Purdown and Frome Valley -shortest route. Nice run on a cool but sunny morning

Wednesday Oct 16, 2019 #

orienteering race 1:23:10 [5] 7.3 km (11:24 / km)

MLS at Bagshot, this is a much trickier area that it looks -lots of black which tends to mask contours and lots of blue because very wet. Ran through the first 6 with much better control than of late and quite pleased but then the wheels really came off going to 7, started ok, then corrected to go to 8 (in error) and then a 180.....lost 5mins and momentum messy at 10, way, way of bearing to 11, missed path to 12......but got back into race and control, if slow. So although time not great there were positives (e.g. no mp) and thoroughly enjoyed it
1 AM

road run 12:00 [2] 0.8 km (15:00 / km)

Warm up

Tuesday Oct 15, 2019 #

off road 54:56 [3] 5.0 mi (10:59 / mi)

Had intended to go to the BOK run but a sunny and warm afternoon tempted me out, if only to dry out, onto the now standard Purdown loop and a little bit better time in the less slipy conditions

Monday Oct 14, 2019 #

off road 1:05:58 [3] 6.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

Blaise from car park, early tying to avoid worst rain. Quite heavy legged on hills and lacking a bit of energy. All in all time not too bad so worth pushing last mile

Sunday Oct 13, 2019 #

off road 10:00 [2] 0.7 km (14:17 / km)

Warm up

orienteering 1:48:58 [5] 9.3 km (11:43 / km)

Devon galloppen, new ground to me around a new set of Tors (Whitewell Common)-loved it - started in a cag and driving rain finished in sunshine. Quite a few controls were basically boulders in boulder fields and some pretty well hidden but my catastrophic error at control 5 and also the mistake ay 15 and 18 were simply self inflicted map reading errors. As a result of this got very slow and weary in last half. I can do better than this.....but did not mp hurray

Friday Oct 11, 2019 #

off road 58:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:36 / mi)

Purdown. It seems to have been raining for 40 days and 40 nights. I spotted a gap on the cloud cover but within three minutes the monsoon returned until two minutes of home. On the plus side I did get to test running water proof jacket - not very, on the negative slipped and hurt wrist/ hand, hopefully painful rather than damaged. Time a bit of a guess as I needed to strip off and get into the shower immediately to dry off.

Thursday Oct 10, 2019 #

off road 1:15:00 [3] 6.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Run along the coast path from Portishead Lido with Pete Maliphant

Wednesday Oct 9, 2019 #

Note

Went for a walk with chums in Wales

Tuesday Oct 8, 2019 #

off road 1:08:17 [3] 6.0 mi (11:23 / mi)

Dryish but threat of thunderstorms so ran around Leigh Woods - parked close to wood, ran quite determinedly without stops and ran pretty directly back through the area in which I normally go astray so had hoped for a little quicker
Still not a bad run and I enjoyed it

Monday Oct 7, 2019 #

off road 1:02:36 [3] 6.0 mi (10:26 / mi)

Run around Blaise from the car park. Warm with a few spots of rain. I ran quite strongly and thought time might be a bit better, but just good to get an enjoyable run.

Sunday Oct 6, 2019 #

off road 1:47:42 [3] 9.0 mi (11:58 / mi)

On a nice Sunday lunch time, ran through Ashton Court and Ashton Plantation, passed Failand cricket ground and back. Quite tired towards the end as I was when I ran with Dave and Celia. Knees not relishing longer distance, which also included sections of road.

Saturday Oct 5, 2019 #

off road 1:12:47 [3] 7.0 mi (10:24 / mi)

CW north from the Dog at Old Sodbury, ran solidly rather than fast but dis push towards the finish. Nice dry morning for running

Friday Oct 4, 2019 #

off road 57:24 [3] 5.0 mi (11:29 / mi)

Ran early on Purdown, short now standard version, but does have 3 hills. Windy and wet so started in waterproof top and leggings for first time in the autumn but actually quite warm so quickly took it off. Not a quick time but thought it was going ok

Thursday Oct 3, 2019 #

Note

Messing around with the car MOT today so no run -did manage a walk with the recovering Ashley

Wednesday Oct 2, 2019 #

off road 12:00 [3] 0.6 km (20:00 / km)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:33:40 [4] 8.2 km (11:25 / km)

MLS at Foxbury - never got going today from when I went the wrong way out of the start and had to return to the kite 30 secs later but struggling to run and just not accurate enough to get into any kind of rhythm, kept on missing controls, it was a bit of a messy area that required good concentration.
Finished to find I had miss stamped yet again -what is going on!

Tuesday Oct 1, 2019 #

off road 1:29:26 [3] 8.0 mi (11:11 / mi)

Purdown, Frpme Valley and Oldbury Court. Forecast was dire 90+% chance of thunderstorms and rain all day. Took opportunity to run in a break, it is very wet and the rivers are full and fast but the break seems to be extending into quite a nice day. Quite frisky at start as not much running recently but knees a bit of an issue later
