1 AM

road run 10:00 [2] 0.5 mi (20:00 / mi)

Good warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:06:37 [5] 5.9 km (11:17 / km) +190m 9:44 / km

Scottish 6 days Day 2 Balfour Forest
Lost 30 secs at both 1 & 2 - not accurate enough. Went through early close controls ok but lost 2 mins at 7 -went away from control and relocated on the wall. Offlinr going to 8 -30 secs and 2 mins at 11-misread hill near wall crossing so too far north. Rest of race ok but not particularly quick
(22/92) +16.47. Not a bad result

Sunday Jul 30, 2017 #

1 AM

road run 10:00 [2] 0.5 mi (20:00 / mi)

Some -but limited warm up on forest road
2 AM

orienteering race 1:06:37 [5] 4.8 km (13:53 / km) +150m 12:00 / km

Scottish 6 days -Day 1 Glen Tanar -very concerned about knee before starting. 1-4 went well, however lost 2mins at no 5 -went to correct 'ridge' and looked for flag but control actually 30m west (unlucky). Also missed no 7 (4.5 mins) -incompetent far of bearing and did not correct rigourously at forest road -should have gone to rock. A bit slow over last controls. 29/95 and +16.56 -probably not too bad for early start

Friday Jul 28, 2017 #

Note

Travel to Aberdeen via Sheffield on Friday and Saturday
Still hampered by knee

Tuesday Jul 25, 2017 #

Note

Did not run today seem to be back at square one

Monday Jul 24, 2017 #

off road 46:00 [2] 4.0 mi (11:30 / mi)

With Ashley around top of Ashton Court, knee still rubbish but a nice social run and joined by Pete for coffee later

Sunday Jul 23, 2017 #

off road 36:00 [2] 3.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Knee now hurting again -no idea why there has not been an incident so just a gentle potter around the top of Purdown

Saturday Jul 22, 2017 #

off road 1:08:10 [3] 6.0 mi (11:22 / mi)

Run CW north from the Dog - shortened version. The issue with not having training 'in the bag' is high variability and today felt weak and lacked Mojo. Also a bit stop start as streams of charity (Macmillan) walkers were heading south and 'good on 'em. Clearly quite a few not seeming very athletic walking a long way with lots of climb.

Friday Jul 21, 2017 #

off road 1:05:40 [3] 6.0 mi (10:57 / mi)

Purdown -standard route inc 3 hills and 2x wood. Perhaps a bit much and quite knackered by last mile but pushed on

Thursday Jul 20, 2017 #

off road 58:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:36 / mi)

Swineford, standard run. Had work to run on the hills. Quite fragmented had to stop twice for horse and rider etc, etc, so time a bit of a guess.

Wednesday Jul 19, 2017 #

off road 1:00:40 [3] 6.0 mi (10:07 / mi)

Blaise Castle from car park. The intent is to get back into a good (i.e. norrnal sleeping/ running regime. I am usually trying to get under the hour for this one, again struggling a bit on the hills, so would have been quite happy with 65 mins - so pleasantly surprised with this time. Tired afterwards!

Tuesday Jul 18, 2017 #

off road 50:41 [2] 4.0 mi (12:40 / mi)

Oldbury Court -kept it easy - both knees a bit sore but got better with run which was well within comfort zone.

Note

Note: walk 2.5 hours with Mike Forrest -Cleeve (Goblins Combe etc. hot day so glad to be largely in shade of wood

Monday Jul 17, 2017 #

off road 1:00:33 [3] 5.2 mi (11:39 / mi)

Purdown, wood first, normal 3 hills but straight back from 3rd hill so not all the way to the tower or back through wood

Saturday Jul 15, 2017 #

off road 1:10:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Purdown & Frome valley - shortened version which included some steps which the knee did NOT like! Kept to slow pace but running on hills and to get home vas again a struggle

Friday Jul 14, 2017 #

off road 53:06 [3] 4.5 mi (11:48 / mi)

Purdown variation on shorter run with 3 hills. A bit weak with the lay off and had to work hard to keep running on the up bits. Really nice day and good to be out

Thursday Jul 13, 2017 #

off road 51:04 [3] 4.5 mi (11:21 / mi)

(Shortened) single lap of Ashton Court in the sunshine - very nice, not pushing it. Knee had hurt a bit beforehand from general life but no worse for run. Tended to feel it on the ups and downs which I guess is not surprising.
Lemsips seem to be working and cold symptoms seem to be disapearing

Wednesday Jul 12, 2017 #

off road 35:35 [2] 2.8 mi (12:43 / mi)

Purdown another gentle run this time with one hill, knee neither good nor bad.
Feel like I might be getting a cold

Tuesday Jul 11, 2017 #

off road 35:00 [2] 2.8 mi (12:30 / mi)

Another very gentle, no hills Purdown run. Knee marginally better?

Monday Jul 10, 2017 #

off road 31:30 [2] 2.5 mi (12:36 / mi)

Purdown -very gentle run with no hills. Knee hurt during run but then again always does on return from gap

Thursday Jul 6, 2017 #

Note

Physio appointment - extensive examination for what seemed a lifetime he is not convinced its a medial ligament tear rather more degradation of the medial meniscus. Not much activity in the near future and mid term a shift in training regime

Sunday Jul 2, 2017 #

off road 54:40 [3] 5.0 mi (10:56 / mi)

Oldbury Court and Frenchay -steady -knee worse

Saturday Jul 1, 2017 #

off road 55:59 [3] 5.0 mi (11:12 / mi)

Purdown inc 3 hills taking it very steady- knee passable afterwards
