Friday Dec 30, 2016 #

off road 1:13:00 [3] 6.0 mi (12:10 / mi)

2 AM

off road 59:50 [3] 5.0 mi (11:58 / mi)

Could feel my hamstring- one to watch

Tuesday Dec 27, 2016 #

Monday Dec 26, 2016 #

Friday Dec 23, 2016 #

Note

Evelyn Goy's birthday -Hurray!

off road 1:06:40 [3] 6.0 mi (11:07 / mi)

Purdown, standard route a bit windy to compound the mud -ran past tower
All seems a big inconsequential on this good news day

Thursday Dec 22, 2016 #

flat efforts 52:34 [5] 4.0 mi (13:09 / mi)

Oldbury Court 11 x 2 mins with 90 secs. Though I was going quite well but then I turned back into the wind and I did not seem to be covering as much distance

Wednesday Dec 21, 2016 #

Note

I guess any training/ exercise in the next days is going to be adhoc - normally finishing work is an incentive to get out into the country side and train tn the light - I don't expect to be too fussed about that this year

off road 1:05:28 [3] 6.0 mi (10:55 / mi)

Purdown standard route including 2x wood. Quite heavy legged today and muddy so not a particularly good time but probably does not matter a jot

Tuesday Dec 20, 2016 #

1 AM

off road 1:05:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:50 / mi)

Run from Clapton in Gordano - old race route (so up by golf course rather than Ifor's steep hill and with diversion around Cadbury Camp. 56.53 for the actually route. Trying quite hard. Weak sunshine as the fog had cleared so ideal for running
2 AM

off road (headlight) 52:00 [3] 4.8 mi (10:50 / mi)

BOK Curry run from Westbury - Downs and then just touching Blaise and back - never understand why we are worried about getting to the curry house early perhaps its a fear that it will shut, but we always are. A gentle potter
not helped as my headlamp has broken and spare needs new batteries

Monday Dec 19, 2016 #

flat efforts 54:00 [4] 4.0 mi (13:30 / mi)

Needed to do something a bit different than standard, plod around Purdown so late desicion to do efforts 11 x 2 mins with 1 min. Had intended to do 10 and so did one more (but then intended to do 12 but getting quite ropy and so left the last one out)

Sunday Dec 18, 2016 #

off road 1:16:16 [4] 8.0 mi (9:32 / mi)

CW North from the Dog -a foggy colder day (and ran in more layers than recently). Took 41.45 to the turn -I think the last time I did this route was 45 mins - so I had gone out quite quickly so took opportunity to push hard on the way back. Quite suprised with the quick time back. (The total does vary with exactly where I park but would be surprised if this was as much as a minute)
Clearly a good way to get rid of a bit of frustration

Saturday Dec 17, 2016 #

Note

A bit of a DIY disaster - the problem with the non functioning light in the downstairs cloak has proved more complex than anticipated and the afternoon slot where I had intended to run was spent with me trying to fix this issue. The result of my efforts is that I have no lights in the bottom part of the house and will need to try to engage an electrician on Monday. Maybe a lessons concerning my capabilities here?

Friday Dec 16, 2016 #

off road 1:35:00 [3] 8.0 mi (11:52 / mi)

Run with Mark, Alice and Helen from Holford in the Quantocks. An iconic day sunshine, shorts and T shirt, near windless, views and winter colours across the moors and down through the oak woods. Really nice, subtracted time stopped taking in the spectacle but still plenty of climb so useful training.

Thursday Dec 15, 2016 #

off road 59:55 [2] 5.0 mi (11:59 / mi)

Run with a recovering from injury with Prof Ash Cooper in Ashton Court. Stayed high in case his knee issue reoccurred. Chatty run

Wednesday Dec 14, 2016 #

off road 57:38 [3] 5.0 mi (11:32 / mi)

Had decided to go to Tidworth rather than the BOK Army walk/ meal but in the event legs felt quite tired after yesterday and even though its exactly what I need a quick bash in the terrain I decided to forgo. Instead did the Swineford, Round Hill via racecourse loop. Tried quite hard particularly on the down run so time not too bad

Tuesday Dec 13, 2016 #

1 AM

flat efforts 54:00 [5] 4.0 mi (13:30 / mi)

Oldbury court for what has now become standard session of 11 x 2 mins with 90 secs. A bit slippy in flat shoes in some places
2 AM

off road (headlight) 1:06:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

BOK run from the Horseshoe on Syston Common. Good turn out -not sure where we went Common, steps, railway track (dramway?) and new foot paths back. did some pushing on the cycle track but also some slow bits (lots of styles)

Monday Dec 12, 2016 #

off road 1:08:15 [3] 6.0 mi (11:23 / mi)

Standard Purdown run, inc 2x through the wood, on a grey damp but mild late afternoon and dusk. Purdown has returned ti its normal winter muddy, greasy self which won't be much good for speed but might help with some much needed stamina

Sunday Dec 11, 2016 #

1 AM

off road 17:00 [2] 1.0 mi (17:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:10:14 [5] 8.4 km (8:22 / km)

Very enjoyable SN race at Long Valley N - excellent day for running, well planned, varied course and the forest in prime condition. Not much wrong with the run - perhaps the splits will show more - just not going quickly enough -may have tailed off a bit towards the end.
The splits confirm this really only lost time 5-6 and 11-12 in both cases where I looked for and failed to find paths and hence rather bashed through (slowly!)

Saturday Dec 10, 2016 #

off road 1:26:00 [3] 8.0 mi (10:45 / mi)

CW north from the Dog. Grey drizzly morning whilst not pushing felt as though running ok so thought time might be a bit better - still that just how it is

Friday Dec 9, 2016 #

Note

Lowland Walk South Downs Way Cocking to Amberley- 4 hour 45 mins 12 miles

Thursday Dec 8, 2016 #

Note

Lowland walk South Downs Way 10 miles 4 hour 30 mins Buriton to Cocking

Wednesday Dec 7, 2016 #

off road 1:14:00 [3] 7.0 mi (10:34 / mi)

Swineford with Pete and Jo. Straight to Round Hill, Golf course, Upton Cheyney. Very mild day, good to be out with company in the countryside - hopefully will be a semi-regular occorance

Tuesday Dec 6, 2016 #

off road (headlight) 1:04:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

BOK run from Keynsham, quite a varied run: town, Hanham Common, Willsbridge, Cyclepath and back. Pushed by Pete on the cyclepath, did short extra loop with Tommi at end to make up length

Monday Dec 5, 2016 #

off road 1:06:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:00 / mi)

Standard Purdown run twice through the wood -late on a grey afternoon DIY day. Time is an estimate because stopped watch at 51 mins and failed to restart

Sunday Dec 4, 2016 #

off road 1:41:50 [3] 8.5 mi (11:59 / mi)

Not done a long Sunday am run for a long time- so took opportunity of bright sunny, winters morning to rectify. Swineford, up to golf course, passed pub, down hill, up steep lane & fp to rejoin CW, round the battlefield and down lane to Upton Cheyney.
Only issue was that knees were a bit sore (and a bit knackered on return!)

Saturday Dec 3, 2016 #

1 AM

road run 18:00 [2] 1.0 mi (18:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering 1:12:30 [5] 5.6 km (12:57 / km)

NGOC Knockalls- forest in great condition
Ran well to control 8 and then gross mistake took 10 mins on a leg where others took 3. Then took a while to get back into the event but finished quite strongly. A bit of a theme this autumn that I am not really putting races together just bits. Something to improve in the spring
Enjoyed the race
3 AM

road run 10:00 [2] 0.5 mi (20:00 / mi)

Warm up a bit of a token gesture
4 AM

orienteering race (Night O) 59:54 [4] 5.0 km (11:59 / km)

WNL -ran quite well on the flat but lost time on some more difficult bits to the north. Evens first and switched at 126. With odds went down to bottom and up the hill but then because of losing time had to push hard to get back to finish and no controls. If I had not had the errors the extra 10 mins would have given a better score.
So lots of effort and an enjoyable night run but not a great strategy

Friday Dec 2, 2016 #

off road 1:08:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:20 / mi)

Run with Pete and Jo from the Black Horse in Clapton in Gordano - I like this one as its very varied and does have loads of climb. Not only Pete but Jo going well -she was pushing on towards the end.

Thursday Dec 1, 2016 #

off road 1:14:51 [3] 6.5 mi (11:31 / mi)

Ashton court - loop and a bit of park with extra hill - always enjoy running here but today bright sun, hard frost and mist over the city. Good choice of venue
