Thursday Mar 31, 2016 #

off road race 1:02:47 [3] 5.5 mi (11:25 / mi)

Purdown -standard route not too wet - heavy legged on the hills -probably one of the slowest times I have done in the light. Still lovely evening and probably a fair statement of current ability to run.

Wednesday Mar 30, 2016 #

off road 1:07:10 [3] 6.0 mi (11:12 / mi)

Ashton Court - lovely light spring evening -stayed in the park but convoluted route -ran a little better

Tuesday Mar 29, 2016 #

off road 1:00:18 [3] 5.0 mi (12:04 / mi)

Blaise Castle - not usual route
The jk has not fixed any of the issues
running slowly and feeling like hard work

Monday Mar 28, 2016 #

1 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 34:30 [5] 3.4 km (10:09 / km)

Woke up feeling giddy and sick -did not feel great during the day but no option to drop out. JK Relay Strothes Hall

Messy run in messy wood - in particular overshot 8

Sunday Mar 27, 2016 #

1 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

off road race 1:14:50 [5] 8.8 km (8:30 / km)

Kilsney- JK day 2. Again very much as expected -lost time on 2 just misinterpreted the shape of land, 3 a tiny non-existent re-entrant surrounded by others and 7 stopped and looked in wrong pits at end of long leg -just stupid. Lost most time here but masked by leg length. Got going later. Really enjoy this type of orienteering where you can run.

Saturday Mar 26, 2016 #

1 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

run to start, warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:16:20 [5] 5.6 km (13:38 / km)

Wass JK day 2 pretty much the race I expected -ok to 5 if slow then cut corner rather than went to attackoint and got completely confused in the Rhodos -had to go to the top to relocate, missed 8 by quite a way and also minutes on 9. Issue was I could not read the map even with the magnifier.......I still cannot the rides are ridiculously faint probably got a map that should have been rejected. Went the long and I suspect legitimate route at the road crossings -ran later part better relying on brown and green. Don't think this one was entirely my ineptness. Enjoyed the forest and the day out with the kids -stayed with the Drs Brown -very good fun.

Friday Mar 25, 2016 #

1 AM

road run 15:00 [2] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 18:50 [5] 2.0 km (9:25 / km)

JK Sprint at Leeds University. Crazy mistake at no 2 missed a whole secion of leg out -went into blind court yard -all a bit of a disaster .
Good place for a sprint race and well planned

Wednesday Mar 23, 2016 #

Note

foot really sore -seems to have some damage -nerve? near the centre -struggling to walk around in work shoes

Sunday Mar 20, 2016 #

off road 40:00 [2] 3.0 mi (13:20 / mi)

Flat on Purdown -had to abandon planned orienteering as new shoes had gouged lumps out of both feet -also odd pain in the centre of one foot.
Prospect of running in near future looks bleak

Saturday Mar 19, 2016 #

1 AM

road run 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering (urban) 46:00 [5] 5.6 km (8:13 / km)

Urban race in Bridgewater -well planned -some tricky longer leg. Missed out control on short leg and had to go back. New shoes ex sale proved to be too small ended up with copious amounts of blood on each sock - ouch
ran fine until spectator control must have run a bit quicker and calf complains!
3 AM

orienteering (Urban) 36:00 [2] 4.0 km (9:00 / km)

Went to Portished- calf and feet caused me to run within myself till spectator control then push

Tuesday Mar 15, 2016 #

off road 1:09:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:30 / mi)

Went to Clevedon for BOK run kept 'very steady' pace on what was essentially a flat and dry run. Could feel calf after 15-20 mins but no worse at the end. Pete also crocked and I suspect in more discomfort but all staggered round.

Monday Mar 14, 2016 #

road run 28:51 [3] 3.5 mi (8:15 / mi)

Little Stoke - calf ok to about 4km then started to hurt -slowed down to complete lap and get back to car

Sunday Mar 13, 2016 #

off road 51:50 [3] 4.5 mi (11:31 / mi)

Swineford - calf ok for a while then started to feel it -so truncated run and headed home. Lovely spring day

Saturday Mar 12, 2016 #

off road 28:20 [2] 2.5 mi (11:20 / mi)

Purdown. Could feel calf so abandoned training plans for weekend. Waited till late in the day and very gentle slow exploratory session. not too bad

Friday Mar 11, 2016 #

orienteering (urban) 1:08:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:20 / mi)

Oldbury court - ran to and from and 6km orienteering ran ok but just past halfway could feel calf- quite sore by end and after
Probably looking at another frustrating gap in running

Wednesday Mar 9, 2016 #

road run 38:00 [4] 4.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Off edge of Downs -First mile warm up in 12 mins then 3 miles a bit harder in 26 mins = 8.7 mins/ mile probably about right.
Efforts not really an option
All the bits of each leg hurt at various times; knees, Achilles, hamstrings.
I suspect right calf is most worrying

Tuesday Mar 8, 2016 #

1 AM

road run 24:00 [3] 2.0 mi (12:00 / mi)

Road run to Inn on Green
2 AM

off road 50:00 [3] 4.5 mi (11:07 / mi)

BOK run -Inn on Green. Clashed with Rovers home game so decided to run too/from pub rather than drive. Good idea but probably wrong week - a bit of a plod.
Nice running and company around Filton Golf Course.
Span off through Filton and Abbey Wood rather than return to pub
3 AM

road run 35:00 [3] 3.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Run back from BAWA - not the optimum route

Monday Mar 7, 2016 #

off road 57:31 [3] 5.0 mi (11:30 / mi)

Purdown - steady run good conditions

Sunday Mar 6, 2016 #

orienteering 1:29:30 [3] 9.0 km (9:57 / km)

Sugar Loaf
Loved this area - Quantock N Wood has moved to S Wales
Planning top draw not easy to make races like this fair and interesting.
'Hats off' to the mapper -top job
What a shame it was not used 25 years ago when first suggested and my body still functioned.
1 AM

road run 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run to and from area

Saturday Mar 5, 2016 #

1 AM

orienteering race 37:10 [5] 4.3 km (8:39 / km)

PD middle race on a cold, crisp day. Snow on the higher hills - everywhere just looked great today -in the far west .
The Dave Peel map is super- we had a 1:7500 map which was not necessary. Courses were oddly short Rhodri did 22 mins -presumably the organisers thought he was going to do 32mins!
Made a mistake at no 1 -overshot badly otherwise pretty clean (as was everybody else!)
2 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm up
3 AM

orienteering 1:20:00 [3] 6.0 km (13:20 / km)

Llanyinidr with Laura - partial covering with snow . The map is really good felt in tune with the navigation. Some legs continuous contact others looking up interesting relative progress - slow but not feeling too bad
4 AM

orienteering 1:05:00 [3] 5.5 km (11:49 / km)

Merther Common with Laura - partial covering with snow . Ran a course going quite well

Thursday Mar 3, 2016 #

Note

Perhaps not surprisingly I now feel grim with a cold.
Need to take a few days off
