Sunday May 31, 2015 #

off road 1:36:59 [3] 8.5 mi (11:25 / mi)

April type day -cold shower and then quite warm sun - delayed running in hope weather would improve- eventually ran late pm. Cold Ashton, to Marshfield Green lane across to Rocks and back up St Catherine's valley/ Limestone Link. Not a fast nor easy run but something a bit different, Great -very English countryside.

Saturday May 30, 2015 #

off road 1:14:17 [3] 8.0 mi (9:17 / mi)

CW - N from the Dog. Good/ ideal running conditions 3830 to the turn - not racing back but keeping up a steady pace. Lots of runners out - perhaps relay is due.

Friday May 29, 2015 #

off road 42:30 [3] 3.5 mi (12:09 / mi)

Oldbury Court- tired and Friday -just a short potter

Thursday May 28, 2015 #

off road 1:02:10 [3] 6.0 mi (10:22 / mi)

Portbury run -nice evening- forgot how hilly this was in the first third. Had to try quite hard to get this time

Wednesday May 27, 2015 #

1 AM

road run 10 [2] 1.0 mi (10 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race (Urban) 39:10 [5] 6.1 km (6:25 / km)

BOK Urban Horfield to Clover Ground. A bit more around the common and addition of the estate from the Westbury Map. Felt quite different to previous race. Used pedestrian crossings etc., which worked fine minimal delays at crossings but reduces route choice.
tired quite badly in last third. May have started too fast. No real time lost

Tuesday May 26, 2015 #

off road 1:01:30 [3] 6.0 mi (10:15 / mi)

BOK run from Hawkesbury Upton -Cotswolds very enjoyable. Lots of climb with running back - loop of to East back up CW and then short loop to W. Ifor pushing it along

Monday May 25, 2015 #

off road 1:24:59 [3] 8.0 mi (10:37 / mi)

Tinsel Trot -bone dry and not too hot (at least till the end) 6209 to the top fatigue set in a bit on the way down. Running from the top car park. So its about 2.5 mins longer = 82.30 from lower park
Not sure what happened today...............
Either: looking back to Mar 2013 I recorded 8350 getting up to top in 62min (I think I ran with the route with Team Monday in 7800 but that was in a group, trying to get back in the light and probably in 2010 and is the only time I remember being under 80)
Or : my watch needs a new battery.
(Alas I know which is most likely.)
Bracken now growing like mad on lower slopes - probably next week would be about the last date you could run an o race here.

Sunday May 24, 2015 #

off road 1:02:17 [4] 6.5 mi (9:35 / mi)

Purdown, 2x through the wood. Good dry running conditions but did have to stop and divert for dogs. Chest only sore right at end. Much better time than expected must have been trying hard by the end

Saturday May 23, 2015 #

off road 1:24:29 [3] 8.0 mi (10:34 / mi)

From Swineford, North Stoke, race course, round hill, North stoke, golf course, Upton Cheyney.
Lovely late spring/summer morning- great to be out in the country. Run not too much of a struggle.

Monday May 18, 2015 #

Note

Chest hurts, busy at work, and definetly falling out of love with orienteering -bored with it. Need to extend break

Sunday May 17, 2015 #

off road 46:20 [3] 4.0 mi (11:35 / mi)

Purdown -gentle potter late in the day

Saturday May 16, 2015 #

Warm up
4 AM

orienteering (Urban) 17:30 [5] 2.1 km (8:20 / km)

Wimborne final. Got very confused and messed up long leg. Thumped by Chris Kelsey in both races. Simply he was just running much faster

Wednesday May 13, 2015 #

Note

Did not sleep again -chest hurts if I cough move etc. Don't think I have anything broken just bruised. Running seems to irritate and symptoms get worse.
Its a shame because I am keen to train. But no choice will just have to lay off for a while to give some chance of recovery.

Tuesday May 12, 2015 #

off road 1:09:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:30 / mi)

Swineford - nice evening for a potter

Monday May 11, 2015 #

Note

Ribs starting to hurt late in Sunday run- agony on way back - could not sleep. Very difficult day in work went to bed early and slept better

Sunday May 10, 2015 #

1 AM

off road warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

off road race 38:37 [5] 4.6 km (8:24 / km)

British Middle. Nettlebed Wood. Lots of controls and very biitty wood with lots of vegetation. Exactly not my sort of race, trying not to run too fast but stay in touch with map. Lost time at 5 recent workings made map almost uninterpretable. Lost time at 7 (control collapsed) other misses more minor. Huge time behind leader but others made more errors so probably best position of year - I don't think I will be rushing back.

Saturday May 9, 2015 #

1 AM

road run 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

warm up
2 AM

orienteering race (urban) 16:22 [5] 2.9 km (5:39 / km)

Aldershot barracks -heat. A good run -mistake at 11 started looking at 12-13 but quickly recovered. A few more hesitations than ideal at start but good ending. Faster than Mark Saunders! don't think he was trying but that won't stop me reminding him for the next x years
3 AM

road run warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Warm up extended as start delayed
4 AM

orienteering race (Urban) 16:31 [5] 2.9 km (5:42 / km)

Aldershot barracks -final. Not as good as this morning trying (too?) hard. Silly mistake at 1 and a few others particularly 6 &12. A little disapointing

Thursday May 7, 2015 #

Note

Very sore ribs after fall -running not possible

Wednesday May 6, 2015 #

1 AM

off road 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Warm up in Stoke Lodge field -not on previous map but turned out it was this time. Don't think I gained an advantage
2 AM

orienteering race (Urban) 46:43 [5] 5.9 km (7:55 / km)

UBOC event at Uni halls and Stoke Lodge. Thoroughly enjoyable and technically challenging on the campus and more error strewn and hesitant than I would have liked. Got told off by a woman so retraced steps quite late in the course. (Lost about 1 min).
I managed to fall again -this time impaling myself on a bush! bruised chest

Tuesday May 5, 2015 #

off road 50:51 [3] 4.0 mi (12:43 / mi)

Weary, stiff etc. Ran from Swineford, short route up and down Kelston Round Hill. And yes you are right I had not checked the BOK website. Reluctant to go but glad I did f as elt so much better afterwards. How often that's the case

Monday May 4, 2015 #

orienteering 1:30:41 [3] 6.9 km (13:09 / km)

High Meadow & headless hill. A good but tough course. Tired before I started. Silly and annoying miss at no 1 and very slow down steep hill to 4. Picked up and started to run really quite well. Another silly one at 15. Then the 'wheels fell off' and I made mistakes at pretty much all of the rest of the controls. Exhausted and seriously thought about retiring. (Too much the day before)
Interesting to compare the different orienteering disciplines. This is without doubt my favourite.

Sunday May 3, 2015 #

1 AM

off road 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

warm up
2 AM

orienteering (Urban) 35:21 [5] 5.1 km (6:56 / km)

Gloucester city race. Had an error at 15. looking for an alley saw lock gate and remembered map correction -so went around 3 sides. Lost 1 min. Otherwise a couple of hesitations and strange routes. Probably lucky with car park. Very well planned course, particularly enjoyed early part in proximity of cathedral. Lots of variety and seemingly no sneaky controls.
3 AM

Controlling 2:00:00 [1] 4.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Roshilli Down in mist -basically walking. Out on hill for 3 hours

Saturday May 2, 2015 #

1 AM

off road 15:00 [2] 1.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering 39:19 [5] 4.1 km (9:35 / km)

Triple O middle race Mallards Pike NE. Lots of controls -going ok except went from 16 to 18. Probably 1.5-2 mins lost - good result in format that does not really suit. I don't think I would have planned a middle race that would have looked quite like this one. Really nice wood to run in
