Ran with Mark, Alice, Chris and Helen from Parkend around the forest in search of bluebells. Alas even on some of the slopes that we know have been prolific they were largely absent and those pesky pigs are the prime suspects ...I did feel quite tempted by the prospect of a bacon sandwich - perhaps Tom's burger van should be invited across? Anyway it was still delightful to run through the spring forest particularly with such good company.

Weather seems to have changed, after many pleasant dry days, now raining and seems cooler. Ran in Leigh Woods but cocked timing up ....again so just a guess. At least running rather than jogging which I seem to do, when involved with 'O' events.

Blaise, ran round control sites (again). There had been an earlier fuss about tapes, so did a check, found a couple that had been missed but actually pretty clean. Took a surprisingly long time but good being out in the wood with a map

Blaise, waking up controls, running back to the car etc
Nice sunny day so people enjoyed the race. Orange was too hard. in retrospect should have resisted change of start for this course. I was very grateful for Mike doing so first aid to the map in particular reverting to the 1:7500 but having now looked at some much used local maps in some detail l would suggest there is scope for improvement

Diary constraints meant that this was the best day to run with Dave and Celia, A cracking Spring Day -run from Shipton Olfie, more Gloucestershire countryside :Shipton, Salperton, Nutgrove, Cold Ashton, Turkdean, Hazelton and back through Salaperton.
Only downside was that the M5 was shut causing complete chaos. Tried A46 which was very slow to Stroud. Came back via M5....wrong.....still closed -took ages to reach the A46 ...grrr. Could have done without this today.....

Run with Dave and Celia from Shipton Moyne, through Westonbirt, the Arboretum, Highgrove, edges of Tetbury and A nice chatty run probably the flatest we have done, in very pleasant and rich countryside. However I was quite tired by the end and heel is a problem

A bit "blind sided" with the weather forecast of a cold snap, yes there was a nip in quite a stiff breeze but by waiting till afternoon multilayers proved to be a bit o.t.t. and had to stop mid run and de-robe (a bit) after which I was much quicker and more comfortable. NGOC Local event at Birdlip, moving ok, except on the steep downs, if a bit slowly but first orienteering for some while so quite rusty and despite relatively low TD race and going slow some silly errors including not stamping at one control. The Cotswold woods were lovely, NGOC did well in finding a "new area" and made a lot out of a little. I did enjoy the outing but not enough to love the sport.
