off road 56:45 [3] 6.0 mi (9:28 / mi)

Did the Blaise run from the car park. Forced to stop for quite a while by bunch of dogs, so almost a bit like two runs. did not feel I was running fast so may have messed up the timing

Sunday Apr 29, 2018 #

Note

Lots of catching up to do today, mouth and general health a bit of a struggle so did not run but buoyed by good family news

Saturday Apr 28, 2018 #

Friday Apr 27, 2018 #

off road 1:10:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:40 / mi)

Run around Purdown after rain, grass now long and wet so quite slow, watch stopped so no time. A bit pre-occupied at the moment and mouth still giving me grief

Thursday Apr 26, 2018 #

Controlling 1:30:00 [2] 7.0 km (12:51 / km)

Yoxter - placeholder for some running

Wednesday Apr 25, 2018 #

1 AM

off road 16:00 [2] 0.5 mi (31:59 / mi)

Warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:08:23 [5] 9.2 km (7:26 / km)

Had intended to do the Urban race but as nice sunny morning became more ambitious and decided to go to Army race at Pickpit Hill as well, a typical Tidworth area but one I had not been to before. Again a little disappointed at number of controls where I lost time at: 2, (stupid. overshoot), 13 (heavy vehicles hiding under nets obscured paths including ap), 17 (short sharp shower dropped temperature and misread dark green) and 26 (overshot again) but recovered pretty quickly so not much overall time loss. Running seemed reasonably hard work and quite tired at end. Perhaps not fully recovered from yesterday where I felt and looked as though I had just done three rounds withy Anthony Joshua so decided to be prudent and not to do Urban.

Tuesday Apr 24, 2018 #

Note

Had a tooth extracted , which was not quite what I was expecting and reacted badly which was certainly not what I was expecting so kit stayed in the car and I slumped in front of TV with hot mug of coffee all day

Monday Apr 23, 2018 #

off road 2:25:00 [3] 12.0 mi (12:05 / mi)

CW with Dave and Celia Chipping Camden to Stanway, a tour of pretty villages, quite a hot and humid day. At one time would have run this faster but not now

Friday Apr 20, 2018 #

Thursday Apr 19, 2018 #

Ran from Swineford with Pete and Jo on what was described as the hottest day of the year. Different route -up the usual down through Upton Cheyney,
golf courses and round hill. Spring if not Summer is well and truly here - good to be out

Wednesday Apr 18, 2018 #

off road 1:15:14 [3] 7.0 mi (10:45 / mi)

Tuesday Apr 17, 2018 #

off road 53:50 [3] 5.0 mi (10:46 / mi)

Sunday Apr 15, 2018 #

off road 12:00 [2] 0.5 km (24:00 / km)

Warm up. Most of the warm up was the steep climb to the start
2 AM

orienteering race 1:22:55 [5] 6.9 km (12:01 / km)

Lingmoor race much enjoyed not only open fell but also Fletcher and Baysbrown Brown woods. Not a bad run, slow on steep leg down to 11 and across to 15 but otherwise, unlike of late, pretty solid navigation but a long, long way behind the leading folk

Saturday Apr 14, 2018 #

1 AM

off road 20:00 [2] 1.5 km (13:20 / km)

Good warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 49:10 [5] 4.7 km (10:28 / km)

Middle race at Colonel's Drive. Two problems in the green, could not find small clearing at 4 after very short leg, (suspect may have been an elephant track later) and came out of green from 6 onto wrong track, so instead of a simple quick run, big banana and had to cross rough wood. A couple of not quite rights in the nice wood but generally ok. A long way down. Very enjoyable.

Friday Apr 13, 2018 #

Note

Hill walk with Pete and Jo basically Helm Crag ridge and Easedale

Thursday Apr 12, 2018 #

off road 53:58 [3] 5.0 mi (10:48 / mi)

Sorter route with 3 hills around Purdown

Wednesday Apr 11, 2018 #

orienteering race 1:20:55 [4] 8.4 km (9:38 / km)

Ash South, training race, quite bushy with many paths quite messy on several of the many controls, in particular no 12 where I lost position and overshot loosing a bucket full of time - a bit of a could do better day
1 AM

off road 16:00 [2] 1.0 km (16:00 / km)

Good warm up

Tuesday Apr 10, 2018 #

CW Dog to Alderley, with the Monday night runners, who fortuitously were in chatty mood. Muddy a bit wet, very mist but warm

Sunday Apr 8, 2018 #

orienteering race 1:06:13 [5] 7.3 km (9:04 / km)

QO galloppen at west end of hills. Nice place to run but really much better for long o than shorter form. I don't think there was much route choice if there was I missed them so mostly straight. A couple of wobbles due to lack of concentration but no big horlicks
1 AM

off road 12:00 [2] 0.7 km (17:09 / km)

Warm up with plenty of up

Saturday Apr 7, 2018 #

Friday Apr 6, 2018 #

off road 2:10:00 [3] 12.0 mi (10:50 / mi)

Nice day, chased Laura for six miles along Ridgeway turned round and tried to chase her back. Not sure why this path is so tricky to run on as its flat perhaps its the ruts

Thursday Apr 5, 2018 #

off road 58:00 [3] 5.0 mi (11:36 / mi)

Ran with Pete from Chew -basically up and down Dundry. Nice day, nice run

Wednesday Apr 4, 2018 #

1 AM

off road 25:00 [2] 1.5 km (16:40 / km)

Good warm up and warming down
2 AM

orienteering race 1:06:19 [5] 8.0 km (8:17 / km)

BAOC event (apparently training not MLS) at Norris Hill. A flat and actually pretty unexciting but pleasant extension to Long Valley 1.7500 map basically went everywhere twice. A bit hesitant through some flat marshy bits but overall pretty straight forward and quite a positive way to rebuild a bit of confidence

Tuesday Apr 3, 2018 #

Note

Took the day off -needed to recover

Monday Apr 2, 2018 #

orienteering race 53:12 [4] 3.7 km (14:23 / km)

Relays: basically bad went to worse. Hardly slept and felt grotty. Snow and initially heavy rain. Mud everywhere very difficult day for poor Evie, and almost impossible for Laura. If it had been an individual race I don't doubt we would have given it a miss. Stressed before start and could not warm up properly. The race just ran away from me, hit no 1 but lost 30 secs at 2, just chased to 3 and 4 trying to catch up, but legs seemed to be treading water. Wrong code at 4 although on some kind of thicket......as I was chasing not quite sure I was in correct place searched spur , realised must have overshot and went back to previous one, could not make map fit went back to 3 and navigated carefully to 4......and yes I had been here 6mins earlier. Forest now empty but pressed on with confidence a bit shot and did not seem to be spiking anything, all the legs and there were a lot seemed to 50 m long. More disaster again I could not make map fit going to 15 far, far to far high and east. Relocated near 17 and then completed race with out incident but another 5mins lost.

One to forget - sorry team mates

Sunday Apr 1, 2018 #

1 AM

orienteering 15:00 [2] 0.6 km (25:00 / km)

Another double warm up
2 AM

orienteering race 1:13:09 [5] 7.8 km (9:23 / km)

JK Long Race Beaudesert Park, did too much running straight early on and quite slow but steady to no 10 where stupidly spurned path route and lost 2 mins another 4 mins on short leg to 13 thrashing around too far east in heavy brashings. Got my act together in second half and improved from 38th to 21st.
