Note

The French are here this week - no training
Too preoccupied with work survival

Sunday Feb 23, 2014 #

orienteering race 1:37:58 [4] 7.6 km (12:53 / km)

Knockalls galloppen.
Really a bit worried about mystery chest pain before starting
So very gentle through a couple of controls
Actually 100% fine
Frustrated with inability to run in rough terrain -knees are now completely rubbish. Lots of energy left at end

orienteering warm up/down (warm up) 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Ran two and from start

Saturday Feb 22, 2014 #

orienteering (Controlling) 2:00:00 [2] 8.0 km (15:00 / km)

Merther Mawr.
Never know how to record these - out for six hours - running legs, checking sites, fairness of white and orange etc.Mostly standing still
I had forgotten how beautiful this area is view across waterlogged dunes towards Porthcawl fantastic. Top which was awful, now more runnable

Friday Feb 21, 2014 #

Note

Late back from work

Thursday Feb 20, 2014 #

road run 46:00 [4] 4.7 mi (9:47 / mi)

Tuesday Feb 18, 2014 #

orienteering 1:16:00 [3] 7.0 km (10:51 / km)

Training including the beach controls from Laura's course very tricky

Monday Feb 17, 2014 #

orienteering 1:04:00 [3] 7.3 km (8:46 / km)

Superb hilly runnable area with tapes - just a couple of Horlicks towards the end -super

Sunday Feb 16, 2014 #

orienteering race 1:03:03 [5] 9.1 km (6:56 / km)

Ponta Umbria: Long race. Mistakes on controls 2,3 & 5. Hemoraged quite a lot of time and then almost clean how odd. Ignored extra path which caught out many better runners.
Will also be remembered as the event with the wet drain. I wonder if the orange artificial tan will ever go?
Best event since...........well some time WM in Germany?

Saturday Feb 15, 2014 #

1 AM

orienteering race 34:49 [5] 4.7 km (7:24 / km)

El Purtill: Middle race -tricky and varied. Really good. Had to run within navigational ability.
This was the event I was attacked by the cactus and it did coincide with me just not seeing the control
2 AM

orienteering 20:00 [3] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Very extensive warm up as quaranteened for 2 hours and nothing to do.
Expect the unexpected in Portugal or Spain
3 AM

orienteering race (Urban) 20:02 [5] 2.7 km (7:25 / km)

Punta Umbria, Sprint race- wheels needed to come off sometime. Virtually last start. Lost concentration and got completely lost. Also went wrong on way back. Really quite straight forward and most lost no time. Just about dead last hey ho

Friday Feb 14, 2014 #

1 AM

orienteering race 24:30 [5] 3.4 km (7:12 / km)

After flight expecting to train but no there was a race. Camping La Botha
Mass start 8 controls in any order around the camp site and then a cavalry charge around superb runnable clean pine forested sand dunes. It was here that I realised map was 1;5000. Not sure that this is orienteering but great fun. Could not keep up as lungs bursting.
2 AM

orienteering race 1:28:30 [5] 7.6 km (11:39 / km)

Kingswood - BOK/SWOC. Phil did a good job with a course that kept us out of the grot. Some slopes a bit slippy. Not too many mistakes just slow

Saturday Feb 8, 2014 #

off road 1:36:00 [3] 9.0 mi (10:40 / mi)

Frome valley estimate of time subtraction for putting on and taking off of coats etc, not too wet underfoot. Strong wind blew me up last hill -good for morale

RAIN

Sunday Feb 2, 2014 #

orienteering long 1:38:52 [3] 8.3 km (11:55 / km)

QO galloppen Castle Neroche
In addition to rough - now soggy - all in wood few paths
Ok to 3/4 way then exhausted. 2 mins on a control (unlucky), 4 mins on control did not see obvious path route ended in impenetrable - frustration, diversion and tiredness and 10 mins + on easiest control -inexpicable. Finished course with tail well between legs -just about last

Saturday Feb 1, 2014 #

off road 1:20:00 [3] 8.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

From the Dog -just escaped the rain
