MTB (Pre-breaky Recovery Ride) 1:11:59 [3] 22.09 km (3:16 / km) +260m 3:05 / km
slept:9.0 shoes: Nike Red Rocks

Bad nights sleep due to stinging quads from all the nettles yesterday! Woke up and saw the fog so immediately I wanted to get out. Skipped breakfast and went straight out to the Army base, Tackeroo, cemetery, along the top of Sherbrook down to the common and back home through shugborough and home up the lane. Hands were freezing in the fog! Got warm soon enough though. Bouncers were out in force so took pleasure in speeding past them on the climbs ;)

Orienteering race (BSSC) 44:55 [5] ** 8.45 km (5:19 / km) +38m 5:12 / km

British Schools Score Champs, Arrow Valley, Yr 10/11.

Decided as the Achilles was feeling good warming up to go out and run it as normally as possible. Maps given at 2mins so was going out to get them all. Started well with no issues flowing through the first 5. 178, I just drifted left and had to head back along the path. From here I headed down to the S part of the area and picked them all off well. Felt really slow up the slog to the field controls and new it would be tight to go under 45 and get all of them in. Going back to the N area I went left at the bridge knowing I would have to dog leg back. Scrapped the idea as I didn't think it was worth it. I'll take 28 out of 29 with 5 seconds left with very little training in the bag. Achilles was good throughout but will take it cautiously for the next few days. 5th. Maybe could have squeezed a 4th from Tim if I had gone back for the one I missed but podium was out of reach.
