Orienteering race 22:50 [4] ** 1.5 mi (15:13 / mi) +11m 14:53 / mi
ahr:114 max:148 spiked:10/10c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

The first of two sprints today at Centennial Park in Plymouth, IN. I was pleased with route choices, etc. Had I felt better, it would have been a good place to actually do more sprinting. But that will have to wait for a different day.

Orienteering race 35:26 [4] 1.8 km (19:41 / km) +28m 18:16 / km
ahr:112 max:142 shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

The second sprint of the day at Centennial Park. Not a good one--I lost focus going from 4 to 5, and had to search all over for the control. I didn't see the bridge on the map, which would have been clearly better. Controls 6, 7, and 8 were in a nasty place of vegetation with lots of junk on the ground. I found 6, thought I had found 7, and punched 8. I should have checked my lap counter to see that 7 hadn't been punched. So I had a missing punch. Boo-hoo.

Orienteering race 1:05:26 [4] *** 2.6 km (25:10 / km) +39m 23:25 / km
ahr:103 max:144 spiked:8/11c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

Middle distance race at parks in two different states--MI and IN. The first part was mostly urban, while the second part was mostly in the woods. I dithered around going to the first control, then settled in. At the beginning I was being very conservative, and mostly went on trails. I had a lot of trouble at 4, and ran up and down the hill three times, before finally ducking into the woods, where the control was at the bottom of the ravine with lots of vegetation in the way. By the time I got to six, I decided, enough of only trails, I can find my way through the woods. Good from there through 9. Ten was located on the other side of a ditch, which I decided not to attempt. So I took it slow and easy by going east to the road, then back west to the control. Except for 4, which was a disaster, and the slow start at one, I was mostly happy with route choice and performance.

This morning, Sharon and I walked all over the Notre Dame campus. Beautiful grounds, and historic buildings. A good way to start the day.

9Round 32:00 [5]

I struggled with this. I think my heart rate got way up because I'm still congested (checked my O2 saturation last night--only 94%). But I finished.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:82 max:144 shoes: Skechers Walkers

I was wearing my walking shoes because I didn't have time to go home and change between seeing my doctor and seeing Jared. And this morning I saw my chiropractor and had a massage. Heaven. My back feels better. No pneumonia--I got a shot and a prescription. Mostly my immune system has gone beserk. So we didn't do too much aerobic at training tonight. Worked on back strength and used some heavy weights. Just a bit of agility. It did feel good to do stuff, but I'm really tired now.

9Round 32:00 [5]
ahr:122 max:179 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

Back to 9Round after a week off. It was hard today and I spent almost five minutes in the red zone. It felt good to be back, although I have a pain in the right scapula. Fortunately, I'm set to see my chiropractor tomorrow.

Took Elray to Watkins Mill early, trying to beat the cold rain. We went to the swimming beach and back. I did a few slogs to get my heart going. I thought that deep breathing might help to clear some of the really awful congestion in my chest. Feeling better, but get tired easilyl.
