This was a no-good, horrible day. I made a rookie mistake going from one to two, a 180, then had a bit of trouble relocating to get to 2. Three and four were pretty easy. I crossed the marsh again and looked all over for five. I'm quite sure I was in the correct area, but never managed to find it. Same with sic. These were on rocks, and it entailed a lot of climbing, so I was really tired, and walked north to the road, then on to the finish. Paul and I then started the long journey home. I did have a great time while in Laramie, and overall, I think I'm doing much better. Also, I got to visit with friends. It was all good except for the 180.

ahr:120 max:140 spiked:9/11c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

Second day of the Classic. My navigation was really good--only minor mistakes. I did make one poor route choice--going to 3, although I spiked the control and knew where I was all the time. This was physically very demanding, but my best day this week for navigation.

At one pm, I went to the mapping clinic, and spent about three more hours walking all over the area. I was really tired, and had trouble sleeping.

ahr:126 max:150 spiked:8/10c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

First of three classic distance races. This was at Pelican East. Strange mistake on control 2. I'm not sure how I got so off track. Slow and tentative finding 6, but spot on the rest of the course.

Today was the Middle Distance on a new map, Granite Planite. Mostly pretty good navigation. Made one costly mistake at 9, but the rest were negligible. I mostly just walked, and I'm slow, but not too disappointed in the results, except for the one brain lapse.

ahr:121 max:141 spiked:12/24c shoes: INOV-8 X-Talon 212

Today was the one-cowboy relay. There were five loops. I only did three, and had a bit of trouble with some of the navigation. Several of the controls were visited more than once. Another altitude adjustment day.

Today was altitude adjustment in Laramie at the Lights of Cheyenne. I drove into Laramie this afternoon, then went for the mass start event. The whole thing was 15 controls, and 7.7 km. There was a two-hour time limit, so I did the first five controls, skipped to 12 and finished the course. I was sloppy on 4 and had to relocate, otherwise ok navigation-wise, but really out of breath. Lots of fun.

Good to have a workout before a long drive.

This could hardly be considered practice. Elray is on drugs, so I took it very easy and let her sniff as much as she wanted.
