Orienteering race 2:19:41 [3] 4.3 km (32:29 / km) +110m 28:48 / km
shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

And this was my worst day. My navigation was not that great on 1, 3, and 4, but not seriously bad, either. Then my brain went off to lalaland. It took me 43 minutes to find 5, and I was going the wrong direction quite a bit of the time. I finally gave up and did a DNF. Looking back at the map, it looked so easy to just follow the creek, so I guess it was just lack of focus. The woods were really nice, too.

Day One of the Navigator Cup. After my poor performance in Georgia, in general, it has taken this long from me to reflect on the good and the bad. Overall, today I thought I did well. I screwed up one control, 3, really big time, like 45 minutes. The rest I did pretty well on the navigation. Reflecting on 3, I was in almost the right place, but probably a little bit north, and the control couldn't be see from the east side. The mistake was in paying attention to what others were doing and wandering all over the place, losing my focus. It is important to trust my map reading and not pay so much attention to others. This was definitely my best day even though it was raining most of the time and I was drenched.

Shelby, our trainer today, must be trying to channel her inner Brian. What a taskmaster! She also added an extra round, just for me, at the end. And my quads are still sore from yesterday.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: GORUN5

We scaled up again on weight. I went all the way up to 50 lb on the one cable exercise. We finished up with agility drills, holding a weighted ball.

Jesse James Park. Mostly I wanted to see if the three times on the line with Garmin finally worked to do laps on my new fenix 5. Now I need to figure out how to download onto a scanned map when I get back from Georgia.
