US Sprint Champs @ Sierra College. I skipped control 17, oof. The control was largely on a line from 16 to 18 and I was just looking/thinking ahead and blew it. Would have likely been second, a bit behind Greg. That's the second time I've skipped a control in my last five or six races - not a gud trend.

Day three @ Dutchman Flats. Pretty good race, made a silly mistake on the first control for ~30s. There were two boulders at the center of the circle, and I only saw one and got confused. Also lost about a minute on 6 with a bad exit direction. AJ and Greg got me by <2min, but I got Bonesaw by ~20s. I was not significantly outclassed on speed, which is encouraging.

Results

Deschutes Daze day two @ Arnold Ice Cave. Had a *great* run. Small bobbles/hesitations on 4 and 5, and uncertainty on the way to 7, but other than that about as perfect as I know how to orienteer. Two years ago I ran a 5.9k course in 44; today I did 6.9 in 43. Go figure. To be fair in 2019 it was smoky and I assume hot, while today the weather was ideal.

I had to work yesterday, so Greg and I drove down in the afternoon and had to miss the first day. However, I just quit my job, which means no more weird work schedule and hopefully more mental and physical energy on a day-to-day basis to actually exercise properly.
