Easy with jules, who is finally back from leave. Felt horrible in the legs and lungs for the first 4km (and london weather went tropical) but was fine with the easy pace through the rest, and when done. The definition of recovery run!

Sidenote: i want to fit in 5km races weekly trainings. Should i replace it for and interval session? Or a tempo?

So i've made a list of every food i've eaten in the last 24 hours, and promised myself NEVER to eat a single item from that list ever again.

Hadn't felt 100% yesterday after the longrun, and felt i wasn't recovering very well... was very pessimistic about this morning.
Started having crazy abdominal pain from about 10k in, which got progressively worse. Thought i had 'found the cause' at the 34km mark, but the pain continued.
At the 42k rest stop, i sat on the ground for 10 minutes then pulled out my phone to call Anne to see what she was doing and tell her i was pulling out, but didn't end up calling. instead i decided to sit in the portaloo for 20 minutes unleashing a monster which i fear may end up destroying us all... you seen the ghostbusters movie? remember that character Slimer? yep.

Anyway, that helped, but still couldn't eat anything until about 60k where i started to feel a little better
At 100k i felt fine again and had been able to eat enough to get close to on track, and stepped it up a bit... just had to deal with fatigue (which i was expecting after yesterday)

They shortened the route because of horrible weather and cut out the 2 climbs... people seemed to take this as a license to ride like douchebags, cutting through groups instead of passing on the right, never signalling, nobody keeping a tempo. I tried to just ride on my own and rarely jumped on any groups

Overall quite an unenjoyable ride, with shit weather, shit cyclists, shit route, and...well...shit

Followed the greenchain walk from Beckenham to Thames Barrier with Eoin, then home solo. once i hit 30k, slowed to cooldown and some technique drills

last solo stretch took it out of me and suspect that i had overestimated how easy my long runs would be after the ultra. should be hard work for the marathon.

Notes: need to start eating a lot earlier. i waited til 20k to start which was an error
didn't drink enough and found myself gulping at the end.
almost newshoe time.

great run, lots of london i'd not seen before.
