Sleepy Hollow Rogaine with Dusty. Drove through the night from family night burns. Made it to the park at 5am and got a couple more hours of sleep before maps. We decided we needed to make a figure 8 shaped route because there were so many CPs along the road that splits the park N/S. Chose to go CW on the southern loop then CCW on the northern. We made a route to clear with a couple of bailout points on the northern section.

Order: 73,64,74,40,62,72,82,63,50,30W,60,70,80,51,32,41,33, back past the van,42,43,53,31W,65,66,61,71,45,54,75,44,55,52

The course had 3 fingers where the bigger points were located, E, S, and N. More points on the south side, and we knew from past experience the far N section can be nasty. Lots of greenbriar from the start, so the theme of the day was "path of least resistance." We took the same route as Mark from the start, but only another team or 2 went our way. Easier to nav alone. We traded places with Teresa for awhile, but she was running more than we were. She dropped her passport at 64, and we got it back to her at 74. Nav was nearly flawless the for the southern half and the first 6 hours. Dusty was getting really tired early afternoon (she drove almost the whole way), but I kept her moving. We refueled on Aleve and caffeine back at the van and continued on.

The trail along the road to 43&53 didn't seem to match up, and we went past 43. Our only real mistake of the day, and it didn't cost more than 10min. Chatted with W4J (going solo!) at 31, then hustled to get as many more CPs in daylight as we could. We were ahead of our cutoff to try for 71&81, so we went for it. 71 looked like it could be trouble, but we nailed it right as dusk settled in. After going back and forth the previous couple hours, we decided to skip 81, our only drop of the day. Good decision. We cleared the rest of the CPs, swimming through some nasty greenbriar btwn 55 and 52. Came in first team. I think 4 solos cleared...Mark finished before dark! Took home some sweet machetes! NSF Adventures as always put on a great event.

Gear note: tested out my new Trimtex Extreme O Pants and Altra gaiters today. Both got snagged by thorns but held up well and did their job. They'll be standard O meet attire from now on.

One way down the CCT from Wakefield to the house. There has been some controversy about the county paving the entirety of the CCT. Looks like it is actually happening because we had to take a detour for part of it that they were paving. Not against the movement personally. There are so many trails in the area and even along the CCT. Nice winter or rainy option once it's finished.
