Orienteering race 18:34 [5] 3.5 km (5:18 / km)
shoes: Lidl Green

Lancing Manor Sprint.
Relatively straight forward sprint. Much less technical than previous week at The Hawth. Featured buttefly loop using a common control in the middle of the sloping meadow between the quarry area and the main park. Very close times (apart from JC, who was nearly 4 minutes clear of everyone!).
Course and terrain more suited (in my mind) to the required intent of the sprint series than The Hawth.

Cycling 6:00 [3] 1.4 mi (4:17 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool
About 5 mins later than I was intending to, so pushed on a bit more briskly than usual.

Swimming 40:40 [4] 2.1 km (19:22 / km)

Pool seemed busy when I jumped in, but thinned out almost straight away as the club swimming lanes became free early (07:20).
Felt tired but set a good fast pace at first. Then went pretty much to evens for remaining first 10. Was paced by a slightly faster swimmer for about 20 lengths and surprised myself how my lap seconds were dropping off - initially thought that I'd misread the clock, but consistently shaving off 2-3s at each circuit. Thought that this might've been partially a slipstream effect (not that I'm too convinced that it's often significant), but managed similar lap times during the final 10 lengths (when I'm normally slowing anyway) after my pacer stopped. Speed tailed off significantly from 36 onwards, but the final 100m extra circuit was just within evens time, so all-in-all a very good performance. Pleased!

Badminton 52:00 [3]

Very hot in the hall.
Two good games and a couple of less good ones. Nobody seemed bothered (because of the heat/humidity) during the final game!

Nice to get some fresh air after the playing stint in the hall.

shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool
very pleasant at this time of the morning (not too hot yet!).

Swimming 42:30 [4] 2.09 km (20:23 / km)

Lane didn't look too full, but successive problems with congestion.
Feeling quite tired from a busy weekend. Early turn on first length gave an irregular distance. Extra couple of lengths at the end to compensate, but time losses throughout due initially to difficulty in passing, then general fatigue.
8 AM

Cycling 12:00 [3] 3.0 mi (4:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Pool -> Work.
Set a good pace in spite of traffic. Perhaps inspired by TdF coverage?
5 PM

Cycling 20:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home, via Euro Car Parts and 3Br.

Picked up brake discs and pads from ECP.
Very heavy on bike (16.5kg in one pannier, 9kg in the other - on a 13.5kg bike!).
Handling of the bike difficult - ok whilst fairly upright and once going, but tricky pulling away promptly and with the bike over at an angle.
Modified route home to miss a very busy roundabout, but had to contend with more slow heavy traffic and lights. Took it very steady to try to minimise jolts - worried that the pannier stiching was going to split at any point.

NB Started job on car and realised that the discs were the wrong size!
Discs going back in the car (don't want to carry them on the bike again!).
