Cycling 6:00 [3] 1.4 mi (4:17 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool

Swimming 46:10 [3] 2.3 km (20:04 / km)

Felt that I had lots of energy today for swimming.
Not sure why after yesterdays tiring orienteering event. Imposed rush due to the late start may've been the general impetus.
Pool not quite as busy as some recent sessions, but still needed to navigate round other swimmers. Clashed at one point (probably more my fault), but the other chap was quite cool about it after a post swim apology.
Did extra lengths as a kind of warm down and because I still had the enthusiasm (though possibly not really the time!).

Cycling 15:00 [3] 3.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Traffic made getting on difficult at times.

Cycling 9:00 [3] 1.5 mi (6:00 / mi)

Work -> Lidl
... some shopping on the way home...

Lidl -> Home
... loaded with the shopping.

Taken a punt on some £15 trainers (Lidl size 8/42) - look comfortable and reasonable supportive, though uppers might not last too long (should be good enough for Thursday lunchtime Runs).

Orienteering 1:15:37 [3] 9.1 km (8:19 / km) +200m 7:29 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon (2013)

Oldhouse Warren Brown.

Good course that took me to places of this, otherwise relatively familiar, area that I didn't feel that I'd visited before. Felt that I was going really well for first 2/3 - 3/4 of the course, but then ran out of steam, had a stumble that hurt my feet and struggled to keep momentum for the last few km - shame about that because it was a great course that encouraged good flowing orienteering.
Caught up by KL at one point and ran with him for a few controls. Contrast of techniques was interesting. K went straight ang generally attacked the terrain - I was more conservative and made more use of the ride network.

Note
(rest day)

Not been feeling 100% all week (nagging background bug of some sort since returning from Shropshire). Decided to see how I felt at lunchtime before deciding whether to do lunch time run. Decided not to in the end. A bit more rest may make recovery before Oldhouse (on Sunday) more likely.

Cycling 6:00 [3] 1.4 mi (4:17 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool
Another nice morning and not quite as chilly as earlier in the week.

Swimming 43:00 [4] 2.0 km (21:30 / km)

Very busy pool (8/lane).
Couldn't get on with anything like a steady pace for at least the first 10 minutes. No of lengths is difficult to confirm (may be 40, may be 42) - did an extra couple at the end to ensure that it was at least 40 (and had the time).
Couldn't swim slow enough at times and mid lane turn arounds would've been little easier than overtaking. Although putting in the effort: the last 10 or so lengths were definitely slower. Not feeling 100% (minor bug type thing), so may be partially down to that.
8 AM

Cycling 15:00 [3] 3.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Traffic fairly busy this morning, but otherwise quite pleasant.

Note

No badminton this week due to the hall being used for exams.
8 AM

Cycling 8:00 [3] 1.6 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work
Nice sunny morning. Bit chilly (10C), but braved the cold with short sleeves.
HR end of road and the level crossing closed to traffic due to (apparently) emergency gas main work in the road. No particular obstacle to me on my bike.
6 PM

Cycling 8:00 [3] 1.6 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home.
No badminton, so a rush home to get on with other jobs.
Cut front grass before rest of family arrived home and managed to do most of the work for a fence support during the evening (as well as cooking the dinner) - quite a busy evening!
