7 AM

Cycling 8:00 [3] 1.4 mi (5:43 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool
After a tiring weekend, it all starts again!
Cold, dark, but not apparently frosty for this first bike ride of the day.

Swimming 41:00 [4] 2.0 km (20:30 / km)

Not a bad effort after the very tiring weekend (and a late (1am) night).

Just about on evens at the halfway point, but the truth of this was distorted by having had a quick (9:45) first ten lengths.

Wasn't expecting too much out of this session, so relatively happy with the time.
8 AM

Cycling 15:00 [3] 3.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Pool -> Work
Temperature dropped a little whilst in the pool - now some frost about, though not enough to cause too much concern for skidding. Start of a very nice bright day. Enjoyed seeing the sun pop up from behind the houses on the way to work.
6 PM

Cycling 8:00 [3] 1.6 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home

10 AM

Orienteering race 57:59 [5] 6.8 km (8:32 / km) +155m 7:39 / km
shoes: Diadora

Blue Course 6/41 Holmbush SE Veterans Champs.
Felt I made a better go of the navigation than the previous day (large weight off my mind following the success of the Tilgate event). Still not quite as sharp as I would've liked, but a definite improvement. Physically still rather poor - unfortunately becoming the par for me at the moment. Very tired at the end.

Good course, presenting both a technical and physical challenge - a real "Blue" course, compared to the previous days course (nearer a long green length and physical challenge).

Orienteering race 43:12 [5] 5.7 km (7:35 / km) +80m 7:05 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon

Tilgate SOG
Blue course. 6/56 - well off pace.
Ended up as the default organiser for this event (<1 week before it was staged). Too much on my mind + keeping an ey on B&E (E very clingy, pos due to cold). Refreshing style of course from a planner unfamilar to the normal course shape that would be dished out at a Tilgate Park event. Controls seemed fairly well tucked away in most instances and had several near misses plus quite a lot of basically poor navigation. Speed-wise not on top form either due to all the recent late nights. A bit disapointed really, but the organising stint was a needs/must situation. The general punter (and there were around 130 of them) wouldn't've noticed the potential for disaster that this event had had.

Cycling 10:00 [3] 1.6 mi (6:15 / mi)
(rest day) shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work

Start of the rest day, in anticipation of a busy orienteering weekend.

8 AM

Cycling (Commute) 8:00 [3] 1.6 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work
Freezing cold (-3C). Slightly caught out by slippery road at junction of street with main road (salted). Wheel spun as I pulled away, though not enough to upset balance - a lesson to take care on the changes of direction during the journey.
12 PM

Running (Thursday Run) 39:26 [3] 8.5 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Saucony Trigon 5

NB Estimated distance, subject to confirmation when GPS logger downloaded.

Still cold at lunchtime (just under freezing point, though with a dampness that made it feel even colder). LS Lifa, Teeshirt, and tracksters - just about right! Dull and overcast with the sun trying (but never quite managing) to come out.

Didn't feel particularly fast, but similarly didn't feel that I wanted to be finding excuses to stop. Ankle ached a little, so I didn't think it wise to up the pace.

7 AM

Cycling 7:00 [3]
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Pool.

Cold and frosty, so well wrapped up (apart from the shorts!)

Swimming 40:06 [4] 2.0 km (20:03 / km)

Much better session than Monday. Almost achieved "evens" time.
Felt pace slipping at one point and realised that the stroke had gone un-even (body shaped like a banana!). Making a particular point of stretching forward with each stroke seemed to rectify this.
8 AM

Cycling 18:00 [4] 3.0 mi (6:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Pool -> Work

Warmed up slightly, but sky quite black. Then started to snow lightly.
Some very poor driving about. Didn't feel so safe on the bike.
6 PM

Cycling 10:00 [3] 1.6 mi (6:15 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Home
Snow gone. Was a nice sunny end to the day, though dark now.
Still cold (just above freezing?).
Moderate cold northerly wind to blow me home (though had to stop at 4 sets of traffic lights).

8 AM

Cycling (Commute) 8:00 [3] 1.6 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work
Fine, slightly frosty morning. Road a bit slippery (cars wheel spinning moving off from traffic lights) - makes the cycling lines and braking a bit more conservative!
Looking forward to Badminton - first for a few weeks.
5 PM

Cycling 18:00 [3] 2.8 mi (6:26 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Work -> Badminton
Always seem to leave work too late, therefore always in a rush.
6 PM

Badminton 55:00 [3]
shoes: Nike

Back to badminton after a couple of weeks away due to the ankle injury.

Ankle seemed ok during and after, so that is good.

Might have to start looking at some new shoes: cushioning on the current ones feeling rather dead.

A bit of pre-christmas meal exercise to justify some anticipated gluttony.
10 PM

Cycling 20:00 [3] 3.5 mi (5:43 / mi)
shoes: Diadora

Badminton ->Frogshole Farm -> Home
Badminton group Christmas meal - very pleasant. Felt stuffed afterwards!
Route home had to be amended when the railway underpass turned out to be closed and barriered off.
