Orienteering race 45:25 [3] *** 5.2 km (8:44 / km) +180m 7:27 / km
17c shoes: VJ Falcon

Sheffield Forest SOG. 45:25 Blue 3/39 5.2km, 180m, 17 controls. Winner AV (37:00)
Nice course, with some variety from the usual fare at this venue. Weather better than forecast, but still quite muddy on large paths.

Crocked R ankle (twice) about 2/3 way round course. Didn't seem too bad (saved by ankle tape), so pressed on, but with less enthusiasm.
Damn! Re-assess short term priority as Southern Night Champs, so scrub Hindhead Common (was looking forward to it, but too soon and most likely V physical).

Orienteering 55:15 [3] * 1.4 km (39:28 / km) +80m 30:42 / km
8c (injured) shoes: VJ Falcon

Yellow with B walking and E in pushchair. 55:15, 1.4km 80m, 8 Controls

E enjoyed dibbing the controls. Ben walked/ran distance quite well. Collected several sticks and enjoyed the terrain. Struggled at one point to get the pushchair over a stream, luckily help arrived just at the right time (thanks if you are reading this!). Nearly tipped E out of the chair at No. 1 when it well sideways - luckily the paths got easier as the course went on.

shoes: Diadora

Home -> Work.
Dull misty morning. Just about ok without lights. Straight over crossing, though stopped by several sets of lights (had to unclip a few times).
3 PM

Note

Good session chopping wood during afternoon (splitting mail, wedges et al). Not traditional O related training, but certainly felt like a good workout!

Cycling (Commute) 8:00 [3] 1.6 mi (5:00 / mi)

Home -> Work
Crossing clear and relatively straight run, save for a few traffic lights. Mildly annoyed by another cyclist persistently ignoring the red traffic lights! Dull conditions, but light enough not to need lights.
12 PM

Thursday run. Estimated distance 8km.
Magpie Wood, Northgate, Memorial Park, Railway Footbridge, HR level Xing, Albany Rd, Princes Rd., Ewhurst Rd, W Green Park, Back in via side entrance (A23) turnstile. Slight chill to start, but otherwise ideal running conditions. 10 min laster starting than normal and saw lots of other people out running near the Ind Est. Still feeling generally tired, but a fairly good session of even paced running.
6 PM

Much better than the Monday session (curtailed at 1.7km due to fatigue from the weekend - was getting slower and slower: no fun!).
Pool quite busy and had to pass other people in the lanes several times, but little to prevent continuous swimming.

Note

Controlling YBT Qualifier event.

2 hours walking through terrain checking controls prior to event.

Several hours worrying that I'd missed something or something else would go wrong, then relieved soon after 14:00 that all competitors safely in.

Weather-wise was a fantastic day (though very muddy under foot).

Event seem to be enjoyed by most.
