running 30:00 [2]
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics GT2110

Nice evening so I decided to run outside. I went back and forth up and down a hill on the ring road in the park. The road was a little slippery in places so I ran like I was running on eggs. Not a very intense workout.

Other 1:45:00 [2]
slept:9.75

A little ski-tour in the Sardinia Forest with Scott. Trails were ungroomed but previously skiied. Did a little trail-breaking too. Ran into Russ Crispell from UB with a bunch of students "studying" backpacking. When we saw them they were saucering downhill. Parks are still closed. Strange.

running 48:00 [2] 5.23 mi (9:11 / mi)
slept:8.3 shoes: Asics GT2110

Nice long run in cemetery. Route is here. 20 degrees, 12 mph. New running pants worked well. New gloves bought for skiing worked well too. Tomorrow we'll see how well they work for skiing. I plan to take the pants skiing too. Sunny today.

running 30:37 [2] 3.7 mi (8:16 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics GT2110

Two laps of the park on the ring road. Chilly going into the wind but not impossible. 18 degrees, 11 mph. Footing slippery in spots but not too troublesome. In the evening just after sunset.

Note

Finished "Life of Pi" by Yann Martell. Fantastic. Loved it.

slept:7.75 shoes: Asics GT2110

Finally got to run outside - two laps of the park on the Ring Road, in the evening as the sun set. Nice. 32 deg + 9 mph.

Back on track after a lousy week.

Monday Feb 12, 2007 #

running (treadmill) 30:00 [2] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT2110

Decided to cut it short, hoping it wasn't a wimp out. Will do the next long run on Saturday.

running 30:00 [2]
shoes: Asics GT2110

I was scheduled for a 53 minute run today but with the exertions of yesterday and a 0 degree wind chill I decided to keep it short just to get the blood circulating and flush out the badthings from my muscles. Smart. Now all I have to do is figure out how to amuse myself for 53 minutes on the treadmill tomorrow.

Other race 2:12:00 [4] *** 10.5 km (12:34 / km)
spiked:11/11c

At Letchworth State Park. Organized by Rochester O Club. I spent a lot of time reading the map but I think I had good route choices and always stayed in contact. Made good choices on clothing but I probably need to buy good ski pants. Excellent snow. No grooming which was OK by me. Dramatic vistas.

running (treadmill) 30:00 [2] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)

Listening to On the Media. Covered up the mirror which was good.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Had a little runny nose not related to the cold temps so decided to declare a rest day and try to get some extra sleep. Probably could have pushed it and run on the 'mill but decided to play it safe.

Saturday Feb 3, 2007 #

running (treadmill) 48:00 [2] 5.6 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: Asics GT2110

A new record for the treadmill - 48 minutes - only possible because of listening to This American Life, the one with the story about the journalist that rented a house in Baghdad and the guy that was obsessed with building a time machine.
