Orienteering race 1:16:59 [3] 5.3 mi (14:31 / mi) +200m 13:00 / mi
shoes: Icebug

NEOC Breakheart Reservation. Nice course designed by Bo. My plan was to move steadily and not exert myself too much, but concentrate on the navigation. In the end, there were several bobbles, and some silly route choices - could have been smarter. Was chasing Andy around from the beginning and later Mike H joined us. Andy and I royally missed the last control - little trail leading to it was not visible from the road. Just made it as the rain started. Glasses were fogging for the last 1/4 of the course but not too badly.

Trail running (some off-trail) 1:15:00 [3] 5.88 mi (12:45 / mi) +70m 12:18 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 101 sz 9

Little John area mid-day run start and finish at Wiswall. Did a fair bit of off-trail running over the new logged areas. Also eyed all features, in particular boulders. The S part would still make for a nice O-map. Visited the yurt as well. Glorious day, on the warmer side.

Trail running 23:05 [3] 2.52 mi (9:10 / mi) +35m 8:47 / mi
shoes: On Cloudflow dark grey

Run to work. Took the "over-the-logged hill" cutoff which was about 1/2 minute faster, but rougher footing and more climb.
6 PM

Trail running 45:00 [3] 3.8 mi (11:50 / mi) +50m 11:23 / mi
shoes: On Cloudflow dark grey

Running home with 3 hill tempo detours added. I felt tired and seem to be a bit hard on breathing (pollen?). Garmin acted up, time and distance estimated.

Trail running 39:57 [3] 3.55 mi (11:15 / mi) +90m 10:26 / mi
shoes: On Cloudflow dark grey

Came home late-ish and nobody home. So I downed a banana and went on a loop-a-di-loop around SH. Threw in 5 hills ; a) logged hill, b) 3 myhill intervals, c) N pit at end. Felt good mostly pushing with hips/quads etc. but relaxing the calves.

Trail running 1:04:56 [3] 6.58 mi (9:52 / mi) +90m 9:28 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 101 sz 9

I inspected my NB MT 101's, and they appeared to have minimal wear and tare. Liked the feeling of lightness and high flexibility and being "in touch" with the ground, but also experienced a few instances of pain from slapping the ground too hard. I guess there is no ideal shoe.
A good "tour" to the shelter loop then Surrey trails and back to Sp with an extra down the field and up to myhill and home.
