Cycling 1:30:00 [3] 15.0 mi (6:00 / mi)

With Charlie up the Clough along Houndkirk Road, down through Blacka, quick visit to Arun & Yesim's house then back through Ecclesall Woods.

Not brilliant to start with. Hungover and legs quite sore. But got into it, though didn't enjoy the strong wind on top much.

Running 1:44:50 [3] 21.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: VJ studs

From Redmires - Rudd Hill - Burbage (northern part) - straight down off the crags - Plummet - Stanage Edge (most of the way) - cross country to the conduit - conduit - cross country from the small lake (over the top of the hill with the quarries).

Fairly gentle to start with as was very unsure whether guts would cope - certainly didn't feel perfect.

But got better and was able to increase the pace. Running reasonably strongly for most of the second half - a good work out. Still slightly unsure of knee.

Running 44:50 [4] 9.0 km (4:59 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Hill session in Bingham Park. Was intending to do 8 hills (2 sets of 4), but only managed 7, which was more than I was expecting, before the guts got too bad again.

Really hard on the lungs, which was probably good.

Running 1:00:00 [4] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: VJ studs

Dark Peak Cakes of Bread race

Fairly severe route. Straight line quoted as 4.5 miles with 1900 feet of climb. From Fairholmes straight up and over the Pike Low ridge to the bottom of the valley behind. Up past Lost Lad to some rocks beyond. Back to Cakes of Bread, then Pike Low (direct).

Unfortunately, guts very troublesome again. Had to almost walk a few times on the climbs then after Cakes of Bread, had to divert to find a private spot to let it all go. Actual race time 62:43, but would probably have been about 56 without the problems (was with the chasing pack when I diverted - only Neil ahead).

Otherwise felt pretty good - plenty of strength when the going was flatter.

Running 1:03:02 [3] 13.0 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: Saucony

From Riverdale Rd - Ecclesall Woods (slightly longer route) - Limb Valley - up the steep hill and back to the Clough via Whiteley Woods.

Had intended to go up to Ringinglow, but guts really bad. The last few minutes was a combination of running really hard for a kilometer then almost stopping to hold it all in. Not much fun, though the first half of the run was very enjoyable.

Right thigh a bit sore - no idea why. Knee a little sore and quite sore afterwards, possibly as a result of the stop start nature of the run.
