Orienteering race 42:07 [4] 7.0 km (6:01 / km)

OHV event Belmont Bunkers 5.76Km 370m

Legs fairly tired but tried to go at a reasonable tempo as practice for the weeks ahead. OK I think, but was feeling the hills towards the end.

No real mistakes (though haven't seen splits yet), just the usual irritations with unmapped fences.

Running 1:35:20 [3] 16.0 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Saucony

From Maymorn to the top of Mt Climie and back, with an extra little bit added on the end (down to the pond).

Sluggish to start with but gradually improved. Was able to speed up considerably for the last few minutes of the climb to the point where the lungs were struggling rather than the legs. Feeling fairly strong the whole way.

Knee was sore yesterday, but woke up this morning and it felt fine. No problem before after or during the run. Random.

Running 57:02 [3] 12.0 km (4:45 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Hills. 3 x long hill, 6 x short hill, 3 x long hill, as per previously.

Knee was a bit sore during the morning beforehand, but felt OK after the first few minutes running.

No problem at all doing the hills - good session hard on the lungs. Also fine going back down the road afterwards, but a bit sore again in the afternoon. The pain seems to be a bit lower - almost the top of the shin rather than the patellar tendon.

Running 59:17 [3] 12.0 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Nike Air Pegasus

The Kilminster loop from Hill Rd, anticlockwise

Knee was playing up again. Seems like a day of complete rest is not a good idea. It was slightly achy for most of the run though probably got gradually better. Certainly fairly uncomfortable on the initial descent.

A little sore in the evening (but was probably worse yesterday).

Apart from the knee, felt pretty good. A certain amount of tiredness in the legs, but only on the steeper sections.

Cycling 43:00 [4]

Sierra, Avro, Sierra, Avro.

Felt good in patches. Other times the legs felt weary. Managed to keep putting the effort in though.

Really must get the brakes looked at. The descents are starting to get quite scary.

Cold wet rain. Presumably to help me acclimatise to the UK next week, but a bit of a shock to the system after the weather we've had the past few weeks.

Monday Apr 8, 2013 #

Running 1:11:18 [3] 14.0 km (5:06 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Up first half of Avian, second half of Avro, along the ridge above Stokes Valley then down to Johnsons Rd.

Legs feeling fairly tired - was struggling on the uphill sections. Also knee very slightly sore on the descent to Johnsons Rd. Haven't done any flat running like the last section for a while - took some time to get the pace up.
