around Ottery in the dark, not feeling very motivated to train given I was being beaten on 'transition' controls by people who don't run that much ;P

Running 37:21 [3] 6.41 km (5:50 / km) +65m 5:33 / km
shoes: NB minimus aug

On the way back from the tempo run I bumped in to Keira who was also running so I ran for another extra 40mins

November classic

1# was a nice warm up control, 2# hesitant but still fast looking out for the slow wood, 3# bad bearing made me run to high I hit the path then came back, 4# way too west but quickly corrected, 5and 6# easy, 7 went left of the wood and got the the end of the path and bearinged across to it, 8# faffed around too far left and could visualize the open very well, 9# again, I didn't feel like the control was here I expected it, 10# slow, 11# easy, 12# dull, 13# when too far north and had to run back over to it, 14# dull (a good example of where my speed just seemed not to be there and worst runners where beating me by 7secs ;) ) 15# light green standard, 16# messed up reading the contours and looked around the wrong stream I think my brain had switched off while on about a km of just running :P, 17# went to the wrong control but then corrected, 17,18,19 fine, 20# went to the wrong control and was very hesitant, 21, 22,23 speeedy, messed up 24 bad +1.15 to kit (wasn't reading the map)..... then my bloody shoe came off in the swamp and because I was carrying it in my hand I forgot to punch then second to last control so.... DSQ after 10km of running :(

Overall I feel I had quite a few good legs (when you look on win splits Kit it hasn't counted any of my splits even though I won a few) but sections of sloppyness let me down.

Note

Might consider a new approach to local events

maybe start doing an Orange and a Green or Blue rather than 1 Brown to get me used to navigating fast and clean.

Just lost it on Wheal Florence... A reminder that all winter it's my navigation that needs working on not so much my speed..

When I came to upload my garmin it seems to have cleared all the course data which is so annoying but it genuinely was 18km all together.

3 courses (bearings, long legs and control pick) at Burrator near the reservoir

1 'vague' dartmoor course (3km in 19min) at the top end of Burrator

2 courses (bearings and map memory) at this new place I haven't been in

...and lots of long control collecting
