Note
(rest day)

Might take 2 days off depending on how I feel.
The 3 things I have decided I need to work at on reflection are; not to give up on the whole race just because you make one mistake which turns out to be only 3mins, have a sustained careful navigation throughout, and like always work on fitness to get endurance up so I can race for that time and not just run it.

Orienteering race 52:50 [4] 8.0 km (6:36 / km) +170m 5:58 / km
shoes: New Balance MT110

SinS day 3, Actual distance 6k
This area looked far nicer to run on than the previous day and it was this terrain which we had came here to use. I needed to gain 5mins to get the lead of the contest so I pushed a bit harder than usual.
My navigation was going well up until control 6 where I made a silly error. I had run to it when going to 3 so I thought I would know where it was but I basically got cocky and didn't look at the map much and was searching around for what felt like ages. This cost me 4mins and I knew the win was out of my sight.
I then went on to lose 2mins on 12 and an impressive 30sec on a 20sec run in, I still don't see how I did that.... I was 4th 8mins behind Nathan, and even if I were to not include the legs I mucked up on he beat me on most of the splits anyway.

Orienteering race 57:07 [3] 7.0 km (8:10 / km) +400m 6:21 / km
shoes: New Balance MT110

SinS day 2, actual distance 5k 385m
For some reason I had it in my head this was a middle distance so I thought I would be out for 30mins it soon became apparent I was going to be out for ages.
The first 5 controls were fine, however we went in to this section of what I thought was the worst orienteering area I have ever been to which was basically a poorly mapped steep hill with loads of cut down trees. I lost about 7mins on this section of 3 controls alone. At the time I was really pissed of with them choosing this area to run on.
I only then started to just try and enjoy the course from control 12 and got motivation from running along this awesome cycle path. Then on the way to 16 I stopped at the drink stop and walked for about 100m and finished the bottle (which I never normally do) and knew there was no chance of a win. The rest of the controls were fine.
Surprisingly I was 2nd 3mins behind Micheal. At control 9 (3rd of the way in to the course) he was 9mins ahead so I must have done well to gain back that time :)

Orienteering race 45:31 [4] 8.0 km (5:41 / km) +180m 5:07 / km
shoes: New Balance MT110

SinS day 1, actual length 6.2, 3rd
I really enjoyed running in this area apart from a couple of sections of the course. Biggest mistakes were due to lazy navigation, on 5 for example I ran 150m down a track past the control and had to go back. The most annoying control was 15 were it looked so easy I just ran and assumed I would see it, I lost 2mins on that 1min leg.
I'm not to pleased with this run as although I probably should have beaten Micheal, Nathan was consistently beating me on every split.

Running race 9:52 [5] 3.0 km (3:17 / km)
shoes: saucony kilkenny 2

East Devon vs Exeter
the head wind and rain meant it wouldn't be a pb producing run so just tried to win
came first a few seconds in front of the guy who beat me last time but we have decided to have a "proper" race at the Tipton 10k :)

Running 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Good warm up and cool down, felt sick afterwards so decided not to go to hashing

Note

Been selected for junior squad training Deeside before the Scottish 6 days which is gooood, now I just need to worry about the WJHI's selection which would be amazing to get in to :)
