shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2

QO level event
Went to this event for a bit of fun, highly noncompetitive turn out.
In the car journey there I got myself in to thinking I was going to push really hard and try and win by +10min, so I kept my word and felt like I was running 4min/km and spiking every control until control 11. Then on the map the red line just ended and I was really pissed off as I was having an amazing run, so I thought it was bad QO organisation or a map change at the finish. Got to the finish and dibbed in, then as walking to download I realized the rest was on the back (never been so close to retiring).
So started running the rest of the course but due to a combination of fast pace, heat and shoes I got some of the worst blisters ever and ended up not being able to run at all.
Never felt so annoyed at an orienteering event in a while...

shoes: New Balance MT110

Good warm up with Joss

Orienteering 55:37 [4] 7.6 km (7:19 / km) +240m 6:19 / km

BOC
When I finished my run I really thought I had done well until I saw the results and really couldn't see how I was so far back. I originally thought it was something to do with my route choice however after looking at the routegadet I realized I made 2 mistakes totally +5 mins, ironically on two of the simplest legs. Overall I finished 12th/13th +10mins on first and +5 on second.
On reflection if I keep improving at this rate I feel I should be around the top 5, as I'm getting quick splits but others have that slight better consistency.

Hashing 1:00:00 [2] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT110

Good hash laid by Joss and Allan on Core Copse. At the start I was running relatively hard however my calf's felt tight so started running at a pace that I knew I wouldn't even feel in my legs the next day. Although I hate being overtaken by loads and doing the short, i believe I made the right call :)

shoes: New Balance MT110

Running 7:40 [4] 2.13 km (3:36 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT110

Went down to the track to do a 3k but because there was loads of people and I had to run around the outside I just lost motivation.
4 PM

Cycling 1:30:00 [3] 32.0 km (2:49 / km)

...Cycling to and from Ashclyst was a lot longer, more painful and harder than expected.

Orienteering 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance MT110

The reason why I cycled to Ashclyst was for a bit of orienteering training. I was slow to get in to the map and because of the long cycle there not too fussed about doing much more than a slow jog. However got a bit of pace together and did a few loops of this nice section of wood, as I didn't realize how un-run-able certain sections were. Overall worth it :)
