2 PM

Running 17:30 [2] 2.5 km (7:00 / km) +96m 5:52 / km

Warming up and down for both runs.

Forest Orienteering race 38:14 [4] ***** 4.78 km (8:00 / km) +144m 6:57 / km

Running on the new lidar map. The only thing I would add is marshes, and make some of the clearings a bit clearer. Otherwise contours were perfect. Went in some private property by accident at the beginning of the course and a guy yelled at me, but the rest was crown land and good.

Super low visibilty due to the green, but pretty good mobility in some places. Worried if JWOC might be like this, hoping it will be a bit easier. I think when the forest is open and white it will be a breeze but I can see how when the visibility is super low it can get hard.

I made a few mistakes, and plan for similar terrain is to slow down and make sure that my bearing is 100% good and settled. I don't think it is worth rushing through this terrain.

To 3 there was a house. And then to 7 I was at the first hill, and literally looking behind it in the right direction and couldn't see the next giant hill due to all of the foliage...

Really need to avoid mistakes like this at JWOC, most of it was good but it needs to be perfect.

3 PM

Forest Orienteering race 51:24 [4] ***** 6.43 km (8:00 / km) +171m 7:03 / km

A bit better than in the morning, started off much faster and stronger, but still made some mistakes due to not being able to see far and doubting my bearing due to the complete lack of features.

I think Norway will be much easier because there are features to read between each control. This map just tests if you can take a perfect bearing or not....

Looking back its pretty bad, I think the morning was almost better. Wish I had more time to run on this map, but this will have to do. Clearly I can still improve in some stuff.

Running warm up/down 9:29 [3] 1.45 km (6:32 / km) +51m 5:34 / km

Forest Orienteering 1:36:12 [3] *** 11.93 km (8:04 / km) +467m 6:45 / km

Map was much harder than I thought with the lower visibility. I'm really happy with the map. I would only add marshes (there was alot of those here surprisingly) and some deadfall mapping, because the forest would be white, but there would be deadfall, but its sort of everywhere here so idk.

Pretty happy with my run. A few little hooks, and wavy routes but pretty happy with it overall. I hope that Denmark is faster. I was doing like 9:00 min/km in some parts and I couldn't go much faster. I think depending on the terrain we'll see. The mock races I'll do the week will predict pretty much how I feel.

Super happy with the lidar, some of the vegetation was chopped down making the map different, but all of the contours were perfect and 90% of the vegetation was perfect.

Running warm up/down 23:00 [2] 4.3 km (5:21 / km) +39m 5:07 / km

Sprint Orienteering (Ranchlands) 14:09 [4] 3.28 km (4:19 / km) +58m 3:58 / km

Fast sprint, one big hill in the middle and technical stuff right at the beginning, felt fast in the open parts.
